‘Pakistan to join Next-11 emerging economies’

good news. Its really a great achivement with all those internal troubles Hope there is only prosperity in Asia other than bloodshed

Isnt Pakistan a member of the next 11 since 2005 ::undecided:?

"In 2005, Goldman Sachs identified the Next 11 (N-11) largest populations after BRIC, which—combined with economic and political conditions—could greatly impact the global economy. The N-11 countries include Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran1, Korea, Mexico, Nigeria,Pakistan, Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam."

Goldman Sachs Asset Management | The Next 11 - N-11

You don't get it,do you,The Paper published by Goldman Sachs is nothing more than a road map for future emerging markets. The bank chose these states, all with promising outlooks for investment and future growth for their clients around the world. Now just because they published a paper doesn't mean the Next 11 is there. There are many other groupings like this exists like "CIVETS"(Colombia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Egypt, Turkey and South Africa.) coined by Robert Ward, Global Director of the Global Forecasting Team of the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) in late 2009.These are nothing new. Then there is D 8,G8+5,Asian Tigers,TIMBI,VISTA,Newly industrialized countries etc. They are all are made according to the geopolitical and economic conditions of the time. Most of them are made for the MNCs who are investing in these countries. These things comes and goes from time to time.

Since the 60s Pakistan has always been the "Next Emerging", but due to our pure stupidity and incompetence we push that target away every year.

I will have disagree brother.

Five years ago, Pakistan had the 65th largest economy and today its the 44th with a $231 billion Nominal GDP.

If better and a very forceful governance comes in which also works very hard to register the $400 billion plus unofficial economy, Pakistan's GDP could jump straight into the top 20 economies within the next 5 years.

That can only happen if that's what the people of Pakistan truly want to happen by the Will of Allah.

in 2011 Pakistan GDP was $190B and in 2012 it is $231B...that means Pakistan grew at 21% growth rate....wow...

Lot of wishful thinking, that means your Nominal GDP must grow at 20% every year. With 7-8 percent inflation that will mean double digit growth(Around 12%) in real GDP.Pakistan's current growth rate is around 3.7%,under the current global economic scenario, and domestic conditions, you will be lucky to achieve anywhere near 4% growth. And no even if you have a 400 billion dollar economy you will still be in top 40 countries.Since other countries are also growing.

Different estimates from different agencies.$231B figure is from IMF.and $190B figure is from World bank. They all have different estimate. And also factor inflation rate in calculating real GDP.

Pakistan had joined the Next 11 in the time of Gen. Musharraf rule, but today & in future there is no chance because Pakistan is going to be ruled by thugs, goons, douchebags, psychos & lunatics.

Unless if Pak Army takes over & does what is right for Pakistan then it is possible but achieving Next 11 status through Democrazy NO WAY, NO CHANCE.

A welcome development. We are indeed an emerging economy and population wise stand at sixth place. If our geographical location was different and we weren't overshadowed by India we would have been a very important place.

You cannot get overshadowed by India.
Does India get overshadowed by China? No.
If your country is attractive enough, companies will come to Pakistan.
If all Pakistani's care about is Jihad, no one is coming.

A $230 billion GDP is not bad. That is larger than Qatar.

it's still kinda pathetic though considering that our population pushing nearly 200 million and we should have a huge labour population .
whatever though better late than never even economic development goes by pakistani standard slow as usual lol :coffee:

I have no hope from this new fake mandate government.
You can't expect good from Bad people
