Pakistan to install more gates at Pak-Afghan border

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan has announced to construct more gates at Pak-Afghan border for surveillance and mobilization of people crossing the border while those small incidents often occurred at border which should not be named as war nor ceasefire was an appropriate term to be used for Pak-Afghan border tension, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson has stated on Thursday, reported Dunya News.

In a weekly press briefing by spokesperson FO, Nafees Zakaria said that border management was a part of a strategy to counter terrorism. Other than Torkham, gates would installed on other border crossings as well, Zakaria said.

The main motive of Afghan ambassador’s meeting at FO and General Headquarters (GHQ) was to diminish tensions and resolve the issue through dialogue, Zakaria added. He also said that war against terror would be brought to its logical end.

Briefing the media he also stated that issues regarding Kulbhushan Yadav were a part of Pak-Iran bilateral cooperation.
By the next week, Pakistan would become a regular member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), spokesperson FO said.

Out of 230, there are 8 passing from which majority of the traffic goes from so mission one will be to create border and management and gates on these 8. Considering how Afghanistan reacted it will have a few more events like this one.

This process of creating border regulations on a 2500 km long border is going to be a long long long process and we cannot fence, trench or wall some parts of it bcz some of these parts are pure mountainous terrains which is very hard to dig through.

This will be a slow process and go on for some time before we cab say that most of the border is regulated. However we must focus on mission one which is to create regulations on 8 points..
