That's all that is required? So anyone can become Pakistani citizen as long as they willingly opt for it?
That's even worse than the most liberal of Jus Soli interpretation you know.
I agree there should be naturalization process for any country (as it sees fit and as it consults its people opinion on),
but fruit of poisonous tree should apply first and foremost (if you get somewhere illegally such naturalisation does not apply anymore period, and onus is on the host nation to decide how long your stay is and what it involves legally...definitely should not be citizenship handed out at the end imo...because that is rewarding an illegal crime happening at the start).
I guess kids born on the soil of country is different argument somewhat, but Pakistani 2012 citizenship reading in supreme court (
@saiyan0321 posted in another thread) basically said even kids born to Afghan parents (inside Pakistan) cannot have jus soli applied to them as they are refugees (i.e extra-legality to the jus soli citizenship act of 1951). That should also involve the BD illegals residing in Pakistan clearly!
Now Imran Khan has chosen this to be a major policy of his early govt it seems when there are much more pressing issues to sort out first. It is quite self-defeating....I dunno whats going on tbh. Hey I guess I will sit back and watch and wish PAkistan the best on it....I honestly thought the first major thing to be sorted out is the fiscal shape of the country along with bureaucrat reform.....because the ship is not sailing well at all right now...and is in sore need of a good Kaptaan.
