Ultimately, it takes sincere leadership and a patient population. Unfortunately, we lack both. We do have a listless population that can stop caring, but that's not the same as patience.

We do not lack anything, in my view. We could do what you suggest, but we choose not to do so by conscious decision. We like the way our system works. That is an inescapable conclusion.

What a shame for resident Pakistanis.

We need to unlock the productive capacity of resident Pakistanis, the same way the nations in which expats have allowed them to unlock their productive capacity. We should be sending our best agricultural students to go to The best agricultural universities around the world and bring back the best techniques to grow organic produce and halal meats for the export market. after 5 years of service (at the end of which their knowledge will be dated), the government should help them move back west where they can earn remittances. Win win win for students, governments and other countries.

We need to force our people to manage our water better so we can use the water to go into other uses that expand our arable land and help grow our industries.

the government need to rebuild the ability of resident Pakistanis to be as productive as possible.

An example is promising animators (IMHO, that would be someone like “Shahrum ki sketchbook”) should be given cheap credit to expand their operations and produce content for local TV as well as the diaspora and anyone that can understand Urdu (earn someone money off the Hindi speakers)

If IK is given 10 more years I easily see our exports in the 150-200 bn Range. Unfortunately I think our remittance growth will significantly plateau in the 45-50 bn Range once income increase 2-3x the current rate.

If govt cut deals with US and European to ease visa for professionals like Doctors and IT professionals this will skyrocket Foreign remittances for Pakistan. US was (maybe still is) giving 83,000 visas per year to Indians professionals.

Instead of sending labour to GCC. Send professionals to West. Not only they will send more money, they will bring back technology and entrepreneur skills. But to do that Pakistan needs to build credible Universities and improve education standards.
