Pakistan to buy numerous AK-103 assault rifles to Russia

The BREN sent to Pakistan is 7.62x39mm, but its value rests with the fact that it can be chambered for 5.56 NATO and 7.62 NATO as well. Not to back the product too strongly, but credit ought to be given to CZ for actively iterating on the design based on real world feedback (or at least being transparent about it). Even if the BREN 2 doesn't work out, maybe the feedback they get from Pakistan ends up in a BREN 3?
They'll certainly learn from the experience, as this seems to easily be their biggest opportunity for the rifle.

Honestly, I've mentioned this before, CZ seems to be the most flexible company in the competition. If PA does go for CZ, the benefits could very well be huge for both sides. CZ gets its rifles tested in active war zones, improving on the design, plus it will become a standard rifle in one of the largest armies in the world, reaping huge amounts of cash for CZ. On the other hand, PA would get a rifle from a company willing to fully cooperate, and eager to please. It's practically a win-win situation.

The problem is that CZ is competing with the big boys, and there is a good chance they'll be disqualified before they even reach the final trials.

Yep - CZ's iterative cycle has been impressive, but us selecting that route would depend on a level of creativity and risk-taking that we (as a society) lack, sadly. Sure, one can always argue "go for the best gun," but why not also keep an eye on the best available company, i.e. the company that can give you relatively prompt improvements based on feedback, a stronger willingness to give industrial offsets (e.g. plugging POF into CZ's global supply chain), etc?

@Quwa. SSG already operates the AK-103 version..

AK-103 variants are being used by SSG in the WOT.

@RAMPAGE You should watch the pics from the presentation .. The team Kalashnikov showing the variant with the scope etc..

The front grip and rail system can also be seen on the pics posted by Balixd.

Whether it is SCAR, BREN, ARX or even Zastava, new designs can be tricky business. Plentiful potential (e.g. adaptable chambers, stopping power), but you never know with quality until you put it through real combat.

People were praising the 805 BREN, but then the Czech Republic went to Afghanistan, and things weren't so hot, so we got BREN 2.

If the Pakistan Army is selecting a new design (e.g. SCAR, BREN, ARX or M77), then I reckon this "evaluation" is going to happen for a few years, if not longer. We're not going to buy a single rifle type, rather, we'll buy a platform and buy small batches of each iterative improvement until such time a rock solid version emerges.

I personally love the Bren .. It's comparatively cheaper than Scar or ARX.. Multical options..

If it does pass the tests or studies .. The army should go for it ..

But than again that just my wish/opinion.

POF could benefit significantly from CZ, and vice versa. The only hurdle I see is the military brass, that don't want to take risks these days.

@RAMPAGE.

Notice the rail system and front grip etc..

The scopes can be bought from local companies like Shibli or the Institute Of Optronics..

Guys please realize that the standard rifle is just one component of the soldier gear upgrade that shall be gradually implemented in the coming years. The army is most probably panning to add weapon sights, laser range finders, protective eyewear and tactial gloves etc. We've already equipped our troops with Kevlar helmets and body armour and elbow/knee pads. This itself seems like a significant improvement when we see what regular IA troops are wearing in the valley.

Yep, That's the idea but I don't know why they use those glasses. They obviously reduce the FoV and its doesn't offer any protection.

Now these Mil Spec glasses can save quite a few sights.

Ok, I might be going a off-topic but there's something else that I'd like to see with our troops. That would be the Carl Gustav M4 recoilless rifle. Excellent replacement for our RPGs. Can take out targets that are taking cover by blasting the warhead over them. Fires a variety of rounds.

This is the standard version of the gun, it comes with rail system

Well two day ago a friend told me that FN SCAR and AK-103 will be produced. FN SCAR will replace G3 and AK-103 will replace Type 56. I think he is right on this one although he has been proven wrong on several occasions.
@balixd @Horus @Oscar @kaonalpha
And he will be wrong about this time too ....... No weapon system is selected yet ......abhi sab ko roza lag rha hai ......
