Pakistan terms US decision to sell air defence weapon system to India disturbing: ET

Read the whole thread, lots of stuff discussed before. Pakistan need to acceleration AZM development and reduce the timeframe from 10 years to 5 to 6 years.
If needed we can always ask China to provide J-10C or FC-31.

I doubt that India will go for F-15 or F-16. they might go for more Rafale and SU-30.

Think I read a news report that US is planning to offer F-15EX to India. If that is the case then we need to buy whichever 5th Gen fighter is available to us ASAP (most like FC-31). Since F-15EX is far above and beyond any jet we have in our arsenal as well as any that India also has currently (including Rafale).
India not gonna buy any Jett from US if they will buy more Rafale current economic downturn they cutt spendings already big time So procurement of big tickets items is stalled. This AD system is political decision nothing more india already operating several systems which aye comparable to this So nothing to worry about

This superiority can also be offered by upgrading SU 30s and Rafaels. Buying F 15s means a new platform with completely new armaments, logistics and training. At the moment Indian military is already cutting on its new procurements due to lack of funds (as per Indian news).
India not gonna buy any US plane this whole F15x is bull crap same thing US will sell to Pak if he wishes to pay

The strange thing is that the US is selling/offering India weapons that India can already source from alternative sources, including its own industry.

So, for example, it's MR-SAM is about as modern and capable as you could acquire, the US NRSAM is just a strange purchase. Likewise for the F-15EX when they have 270 MKIs, or even 36 Rafales in the bag. And a F-15EX purchase would take away from additional Rafales (and I think LCAs too).

These purchases will make India militarily stronger, sure, but the capability growth was coming their way regardless, it's just now the US is taking advantage of it.

As for us, sadly, no response to that scale is coming. I can see us doing a panic order of a relatively underwhelming system that we should've gotten decades ago, like the FD-2000 (similar to the $500 m-plus we dropped on the HQ-16, an older SARH-based SAM design).

The solution for us was (besides working on our economy) proactively developing our own solutions, not panic-buying "mature" off-the-shelf stuff (while failing to solve the root issue).

Even if we were restricted to just collaborating with China, we should've gone that route and co-funded some of their work for the sake of building our own base up.

The U.S. Department of State has approved a possible sale to India of military equipment comprising an integrated air defense weapon system (IADWS), the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced in a statement Monday. The cost of the sale, if finalized, would be approximately $1.867 billion. The DSCA announcement comes shortly before an anticipated trip to India by U.S. President Donald J. Trump later this month. Trump is expected to visit India for a two-day trip between February 23 and 26, according to Indian reports.

The IADWS package that has been approved includes a range of sensors, weapons systems, and support equipment. Included in the potential sale are AN/MPQ-64Fl Sentinel radar systems, AMRAAM AIM-120C-7/C-8 missiles and associated guidance and control equipment, and Stinger FIM-92L missiles. The sale also includes M4A1 rifles, M855 5.56mm cartridges, and a range of other associated equipment.

“This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to strengthen the U.S.-Indian strategic relationship and to improve the security of a major defensive partner, which continues to be an important force for political stability, peace, and economic progress in the Indo-Pacific and South Asia region,” the DSCA release noted.

“India intends to use these defense articles and services to modernize its armed forces, and to expand its existing air defense architecture to counter threats posed by air attack,” the U.S. statement continued. “This will contribute to India’s military goal to update its capability while further enhancing greater interoperability between India, the U.S., and other allies. India will have no difficulty absorbing these systems into its armed forces.”

Defense ties between the United States and India have been growing in recent years. In June 2017, during their first meeting, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the “strengthening of India’s defense capabilities, with the help of USA, is something that we truly appreciate.”

Over the last decade, the United States has emerged as a major defense supplier to India. India, meanwhile, is the world’s largest importer of defense equipment, accounting for some 12 percent of global defense imports, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s 2018 yearbook.

India has been gradually modernizing and expanding its air defense networks, but a concern for New Delhi remains its inability to integrate several major systems. For instance, if the sale of this U.S.-approved IADWS package were to be approved, Indian forces would have to operate them in isolation from Russia-procured systems like the S-400 surface-to-air missile system, which India is slated to begin receiving later this year. The S-400 and the U.S. IADWS each cover different parts of the aerial threat environment, with the Russian system covering higher-altitude threats at longer ranges.

India has also been developing a range of indigenous air defense systems, including the Akash Mk1/Mk1S, both of which are in production (Akash Mk1 is operational). The Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM), another indigenously developed low-altitude interceptor, is in trials. India also operates the Israeli surface-to-air Python and Debry (SPYDer) system, which covers short- and medium-range threats at low altitudes.

Just one question India is ordering AIM 120C-7/C-8 how will they fire them?

The desperation of Uncle sam is now very obvious it wants India to counter China. A losing proposition these dumb Americans don't get it.

It's like we're exploring a swinging situation, it seems; we're looking at their bosom buddy and ours is looking at them. I hope you get the meaning. Changing geopolitical balance, I suppose.
What is your take on this brother ?

It’s really getting confusing for me to analyse this statement, the context and reason behind it, although i am not keeping my hopes high

This is statement should have been avoided it carries no weight. As a reaction, Pakistan should have announced the purchase of HQ-9B.

France ,UK, US, Russia (old friend of india) have decided to support india irrespective of what consequences it might bring. To restore the balance of power, Pakistan must go for a policy that has never been done.

By hook or by crook, Pakistan must restore the conventional balance of power.

Only thing disturbing is that people in the same region fighting each other like babies while foreigners selling you weapons.

India chose itself to invade Kashmir and to attack Pakistan. They embarassed themselves on both accounts. Now all of India is burning with citizenship riots.

Here in Pakistan, we are living our lives peacefully regardless of faith. Our government is being very patient and holding us back while the whole of Pakistan is burning with rage over rape and torture of Kashmiris.

Furthermore, we are in different regions. Pakistan and Afghanistan are considered Greater ME, Greater Central Asia, Southwest Asia, and Eurasia.

We are no longer a South Asian nation. The divide is permanent.
