What's new

Pakistan starts its own olive oil production

Kuch log parh likh jatay hain leken aqal dur dur tak choo kar nahi jati.

Just like you have water in a glass rather than a flat plate same way dams are constructed in mountainous terrain that provide naturally high 'walls' for the reservoir. Would be nearly impossible or financially impractical to make large enough dams in the plains of Sindh and Punjab.

barrages... there are many in plains, everywhere around the world... nearly every city has it where there is a a stream... barrages store water, add scenic beauty, water sports and raise ground water level.

Yes, but barrage only blocks/restricts the flow of the river to create a lake type water body and it can hardly store enough water to be a major source of water storage or power generation.

Your objection was about irrigation? No? as barrage can store and supply water for irrigation... Imagine seasonal lakes, which can be filled during flooding (so once a year or in two year).. and for the rest of the time, we can store water in canals...

Avocado is just an in-fashion product for now, 2 years ago it was kale 2 years before that it was pomegranate, by the time you grow enough of Avocado it may fall off the fashion.
avocado is in fashion for 50+ years..
what are you talking about??
Mohammad, kurram tangi, dasu, diamer bhasha , sukki kinari.
All in KPK.
Sindh barrage? I am talking about dam.
And in Balochistan, which three dams are under construction?
I don't think so that any dam in Balochistan is underway. And Never will be. Hey its Baluchistan, its not suppose to get anything from us.
i am going to use my magical wand to move river Indus to Baluchistan and hence we should be able to build mega dams there

these three are about to start from federal govt help

Baluchistan dams:

Directly from CM can't get more authentic source than that.

It’s good to produce olives and its oil.

but we should also think about branding and marketing according to the markets we want to export.
For example if we want to export our real olive oil to France, then brand our bottles with a name french understand.
Study the french olive oil market : if you find that 10% if sales are for luxury branded oil, 20% for organic oil and 70% for common quality oil then we should draw the correct conclusions and act accordingly. We will maximise our profits.
And it’s valid for every product every market.
My 2 anays ki analysis of what left in my brain from my studies long time ago 😁

but why france would buy oil from us rather than their own or spanish or north africans? neither we can export it to gulf?
I suggest we need to focus olive and corn oil for local market and some exports, with date and ''beri'' trees plantation and then produce honey alongside... if Chinese can turn to olive, we can then a huge market :D

Yes but why not everywhere in the world ? A true international export !

if you think they won’t let you to sell it, then think out of the box and you will be able to sell to them !
Billions of dollars are made of billions notes of 1 dollar

For information, Turkish people started big business stores and they sell many products made in Turkey. Everyone is buying from them... french, Arabs, africans, Pakistanis etc...

si why not us with our products ?

Cheshunt, cashew nut, almond fruit, coconut, coffee bean and 100s of such things.
The question is, are we building dams for it? If Sindh is not letting build dams in kpk, why don't we first build dams in Sindh and Balochistan, fill them first, and start building dams in Punjab and kpk?

Where in Sindh and Balochistan do you think is a more optimal place to build these dams than the suggested locations in KPK?

Because anything that is for the welfare of "others" is certainly not on priority of the planners of Pakistan.
Yeh chez dabodygi Pakistan ko, abhi nai tu 30 sal bad. But nainsafi rang Lati hai.... Anyway.

Please answer the above question and I will explain step by step how building 'dams' in Sindh and Balochistan over KPK is not a very smart idea.

See again, you missed my point. In my opinion, Dams are necessary, and all dams, anywhere in Pakistan are justified.
My point is, if one province objects on dams in KPK or Punjab, my point is, lets give that province first something that Province is satisfied, and then proceed towards making that is intended.
Please see this old study
But anyway, work on few dams is already underway. But at least building few dams in Sindh and few more in Baluchistan will build confidence among other Pakistanis as well.

No I did not.

1) Dams are most beneficial and most efficient when built as up stream as possible. Any dam can only supply water to and restrict flooding in areas downstream of it. A dam built in Sindh will only benefit Sindh while a dam built in KPK, GB, AJK will benefit every region downstream of it, be it in KPK, Punjab, Balochistan, or Sindh. It would not be wise to invest millions if not billions on a project in Sindh when that same amount could be spent in KPK to benefit a lot more than just Sindh. The fact that your suggestion to build dams in Sindh is primarily driven to appease Sindh's political agenda driven objections against dams in KPK/Punjab makes the situation ironic.

2) You cannot build dams just anywhere. Geography plays a major role in dictating the size, feasibility, efficiency, and cost of a dam and its reservoir. Sindh has nowhere near the suitable geography to build any dam close to what can be built in KPK, let alone for the same cost. Especially, again, when the same money can be used to build better dams elsewhere which would also benefit a lot more Pakistanis a lot more.

3) Pakistan does not have the capital to throw around just to placate the petty, infantile, and idiotic regional politics of its people. They need to grow up or step aside. It's already embarrassing enough. We don't even have the money to build the intended projects let alone token projects to appease regional politicians.

4) The provinces will never be satisfied. Why? Because their objections stem from nefarious regional political agendas of their politicians. The same politicians who use their uneducated and illiterate masses to do their bidding and reinforce their political power. Or are you suggesting that there is merit to Sindh's objections? Sindh and its farmers stand everything to gain and nothing to lose from a dam in KPK. Yet they cry bloody murder over it.

ps: The link that you have provided is a proposal for a feasibility study for those 30 small dams. No feasibility study has been conducted thus far, let alone any study declaring those dams feasible. Also, those dams are small scale dams which won't be any good beyond specific local communities.

How a dam built in kpk can irrigate regions of Therparker? Or may areas around Quetta?
