Pakistan single engine aircraft doctrine rules

pakistan first need numbers before it can think of expenisve jets..we barely are meeting our numbers ..
the fact that india has chnaged the ground rules and put limited air war in the equation means that we would need high end jets when rafale comes in, be it f16b70 with aim 120d, j10c or j-31..something is needed in addition to jf-17
i am not in favor of anything elese then stealth in next step lets have 76 f-16 250-300 thunders and rest 100 or even 70-80 5th gen fighters like j-31 .

I think we don't need plane, instead a better avionics to counter new plane in Indian inventory. After all Mirage is still operational to modern day airforce standards. But, JF17 hull is enough to accommodate French or Chinese avionics.
It is fact, between Pakistan and India, very limited strike and counter strike time. The winner who take full advantage between the time.

buddy if you want to defend makah and madina pak and then back to china afghanistan uphil borders .. then buddy you need thoso jets.. you may differ
makkah and madina are better armed then pakistan some 30 times f-15sa typhoons tornados are flying from taif airbase in 100s not in dozens

Absolutely... f-16s if hook or by crook at least 2-3 2nd hand squads or J-10cs
better to wait a bit and having 1 sqn of j-31 with that money

Agreed, but with Navy in mind I think dual engine fighter is needed. Especially to protect CPEC/Gwadar assets. Be it in smaller numbers as force multipliers.

A fighter like J-10C however could also fulfill the role very nicely.
navy will have so much more once we have 5th gen fighters in hands . we are classic mind people in real world countries are adding 5th gen fighters because they live in future .

I don't think that Mirages are going anywhere until late 20s or even upto early 30s
wrong they will be dissapear in 5 years 6 sqns remains with mirages and as its going on sqn will even destroy in crashes .PAF loonign badly to replace f7p and mirages with thunders

It is nothing short of a miracle how we keep flying these birds. That too in a very pristine state.
they are dangerous for our pilots so many lives they took in recent years . some are 50 years old . PAF is not that much crazy to keep them flying . in 5 years some 15 will crash

.
theres a reason why f-16 was and has been PAFs all time favorite. It shows PAF would actually prefer medium multirole jets. single or double engines, a medium multirole jet is ideal for a country like Pakistan. Even if Pakistan maintains nothing else but lets say j-10s fleet, it will make PAF much more lethal. Just like Turkey maintains a large fleet of f-16s.

i never expected modi will be the stakes, what modi has realized is that Pakistan will always de escalte plus world powers have silently given a go ahead..pakistan chance is now while afghan talks are going , get used jets, upgrade package for current birds and aim120Ds..pakistan needs to lobby in congress with Lockheed martin, i am sure this door will open once india shuns the single jet and go all in for rafales

Mirage is very old 45+ year and need to be replaced, either with J-10C or Mig-35 @HAIDER

time is the problem, modi is really uping the stakes..but definitively pakistan should try to get used f16 and an upgrade package though it will be difficult but not impossible as any used aircraft procurement has to go through executive not congress

As we discuss before , J10c is using Russian state of the art AL31 engine. It's not in Pakistan range yet. Russia is not interested to sell this engine , due to Indian factor. AL31 is tvc and fitting this engine mean turn a rabbit into lion.

Agreed. We need to definitely think beyond Mirages now. They have served beyond their expiry date.

J-10C is fitted with indigenous WS-10B, J-10A/B fitted with AL-31F @HAIDER :crazy::crazy::crazy:

IAF knock down all Arab forces with single engine. Now F35 also single engine. Pak and Isreal air doctrine is pretty much same. It's more defence and defence in offense based.
They have 15s as well don't they? The single vs double engined jet debate has long raged on in PAF and amongst arm chair generals like me. There is a limited need for PAF, firstly over the sea and a few in the Centre of Pak lands for longer loitering time. I suspect if we do buy them it wont be more than 2-3 squadron. If we can get something with commonality of engines with a single engined fighter it may be economically more palatable. Finances remain the major bugbear.
