This discussion around BBC and media in general has a simpler explanation. Pakistan in general during Ops Searchlight had banned all international and foreign media (and/or put serious restrictions on it). This created a very bad relationship with the foreign corp. There was a general war wariness in the West ala Vietnam that was in the early stages. Pakistan's media relations had not endeared her to the foreign press corp. On the other hand the Indians were masterful in their media relations, wining and dining the foreign press, giving them access and thereby much like first gulf war, had the ability to completely control the narrative., especially during and after the war. There are many lessons that till today we have not learned from the East Pakistan fiasco, because we fail to objectively study that history. The documentary above looks at many of these exact issues we have been questioning for years.
