I have to say that , i have to agree with Olson here , specially after the Pakistani Army are openly professing of supporting terrorism , from Genaral Musharraf accepting to supporting terrorist in Indian administered Kashmir & Afghanistan source:

to, General Asad Durrani accepting Pakistan supporting the haqqani network & the Afghan Taliban in Afghanistan , these are self destructive policy & the sooner the Establishment in Pakistan realizes the folly of this , the better it is for Pakistan . Pakistan has to do away with the policy of using militancy as a tool of foreign policy.

Suggesting that Pakistan’s concerns over India’s role in Afghanistan were “overestimated”, US Special Envoy Richard Olson on Tuesday said Pakistan had its own security concerns and it needed to focus on them.

“Pakistan will not be secure until and unless it takes action against terrorist organisations, like the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network,” Olson said while addressing a think-tank, the Atlantic Council. He, however, noted that the ongoing military operations in North Waziristan had curbed terrorist attacks inside Pakistan, which resulted in reducing violence and stabilising the Pakistani economy.

But Pakistan’s reluctance to take strong action against terrorist networks that carry out attacks outside its territory had impaired its success in curbing terrorism at home, he added. “Pakistan will not have a bright future until and unless it goes after the Taliban,” he warned.

Olson also noted that the Afghan Taliban had consolidated themselves under the new leadership, which took charge after a US drone strike eliminated Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour in Balochistan last month.

He appreciated Pakistan’s commitment to the Afghan peace process and urged Islamabad to use its influence on the Taliban to persuade them to join reconciliation talks.

Olson said the United States would provide more than $3 billion a year in support for the Afghan national security forces from 2018 through 2020.

Olson, the US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, said the administration planned to ask Congress for about $1 billion a year in development and economic assistance for Afghanistan from 2018 to 2020.

Disagreeing with Pakistan’s concerns that India was using its strong presence in Afghanistan to stir trouble in Balochistan, the US envoy said: “India has been a supportive partner for Afghanistan. It has provided a limited amount but important military assistance (to Afghanistan).”

Olson, who was the US Ambassador to Pakistan before taking up his present assignment, was asked to comment on the perception in Pakistan that India had set up 24 consulates in Afghanistan, some close to the Pakistani border.

There were only “four Indian consulates in Afghanistan”, said the US envoy while explaining how the perceived Indian threat was exaggerated in Pakistan.

“I sometimes feel that the degree of Indian influence on Afghanistan may be overestimated in Pakistan,” he added.

The Wall Street Journal, however, reported on Tuesday that some peacemakers viewed the drone strike that killed Mullah Mansour as a setback to their efforts to restore peace to the war-ravaged country.

“Striking the leadership was a mistake,” said Paolo Cotta-Ramusino, secretary-general of The Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs. “We need to interact with the Taliban’s leadership, not take them out.”

The Pugwash is a conflict-resolution group that met Taliban representatives in Qatar recently.

After the drone strike, the Pentagon called Mullah Mansour an obstacle to peace and President Barack Obama said he didn’t expect the Taliban to move towards peace talks soon, WSJ said.

But the Taliban appointed a hard-line religious leader to replace Mullah Mansour and stepped up attacks on government targets, the report added.

Every Pakistani analyst can swear the presence of over dozen of Indian consulate in Afghanistan along the Pak border.

Americans have lost credibility in the world...They are the most prolific liars. They can attack countries on totally false premises like WMDs etc. They can stage false flag attack on their land like 9/11...so who will trust them now my friend?

If the US is serious about bringing peace to the region, then it needs to stop catering to anti-peace stances of both Afghanistan and India. @CENTCOM criticized me for saying this before, and pointed towards US participation at the QCG, but not to long after, guess what? I was right, the US wasn't serious about peace talks, because they literally killed the talks before they were about to begin.

At this point, the Obama administration is making the exact same mistakes the Bush administration made.

Through its projection of soft power over last decade and a half - India has already managed to influence a lot of Pakistani citizens via its movies and media. Can you imagine a Pakistani fan flying an Indian flag atop his home 15 years ago? The idea is to create an atmosphere so that when the civilian leadership of Pakistan finally takes on its military honchos head on - the people side with the civilian leadership. India and Afghanistan are independent states - Pakistan's policy of strategic depth in Afghanistan is downright daft - this is not the Cold War. In the battle of perceptions, Pakistan - a darling of the West from the 1960s-1980s - is already considered a rogue state - slightly above North Korea. This needs to continue till the mullah-military stranglehold on Pakistan is released. Pakistan's last ally is China and even China will see the writing on the wall and in a decade drop Pakistan like a hot potato with the economic integration of Chindia.

It may be true that Pakistan is overestimating Indian presences in afghanistan, but it certainly does not mis-reads the intentions. Mr Olson did not properly answered Pakistan concerned regarding that indian presence in afghanistan is linked to unrest in Pakistan instead he said India is helping in afghanistan (with whom he did not mentioned). it is clear that he just do not care what India does in Pakistan through afghanistan.

Also USA needs to take action against Taliban ( all types) in afghanistan first then it should ask Pakistan to do so in Pakistan. US on one hand says it had stop military action against Taliban in afghanistan while it does kill them inside other countries and ask Pakistan to do so too. clearly its a policy of duplicity, not meant to solve afghan problem but to keep region in turmoils.

In my humble opinion, afghan leaders are making hey while the afghan people are tortured and killed daily. Afghan leaders just mislead its nation because they do not tell them wht is th main cause of violence instead they points fingers at Pakistan. Afghan must do two things if the really consider taliban is source of all violence 1. launch a nation wide cleansing operation against Taliban 2 seal border with Pakistan t check the movement of taliban accross borders.

Pakistan will not and should not do fighting for Afghanistan! They must do it themselves. US will never tell them this in clear and clean terms.
