Pakistan seeks probe into Lance Naik's torture, killing

Well in the eyes of many of your countrymen GOI is spineless because they have not declared war so me calling them spineless shouldn't be such a big deal. GOP was being clever when it suggested that, they never expected India to agree but now India will look bad should it escalate things further which is why GOI is calling for calm but at the same time IA shelled some Pakistani positions and another soldier was killed.

Most Indians do not want war but want a fitting reply for the beheading/mutilation. Killing happens on both sides but not beheading/mutilation. There are ways to provide a fitting reply instead of war. And that is where we doubt GOI will not provide an appropriate response due to many idealistic peaceniks at the center. These idealistic fools destroyed RAW's capabilities for counter ops and tie down Indian army's hands as well.

UN observer group to probe LoC violence

10 January 2013

WASHINGTON/ISLAMABAD, 10 JAN: The UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) has received an official complaint from Pakistan’s army and will conduct a probe into the ceasefire violations on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, a UN spokesman said.

"Regarding the 6 January alleged incident, the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan, or UNMOGIP, has received an official complaint from the Pakistan army and will conduct an investigation as soon as possible in accordance with its mandate," Mr Martin Nesirky, spokesman for Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, was quoted as saying at a Press briefing.

Pakistan has accused Indian troops of killing one of its soldiers while Indian officials charged Pakistani troops with sneaking into Jammu and Kashmir's Mendhar sector, and killing two Indian soldiers, and mutilating their bodies.

On the second "alleged incident" that occurred on 8 January, "no official complaint has been received either from the Pakistan army or Indian Army", Mr Nesirky said. "UNMOGIP is aware that the Pakistan army and Indian army are in contact via the hotline and urges both sides to respect the ceasefire and de-escalate tensions through dialogue," he said.

Pakistan, meanwhile, hoped that the ceasefire violations would not be a setback to or derail the peace process with India. “You asked whether this will set back or derail the (peace) process. I will hope not and I (do not) see it derailing or setting back the process,” Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said during a news conference at the Foreign Office this afternoon.

“I hope both the countries will show their commitment to correct (the situation) as we are showing our commitment to correct,” she said in response to a flurry of questions about two clashes along the LoC. The situation had deteriorated because of “some unnecessary statements and unnecessary atmospherics which were created”, she said.

Ms Khar iterated Pakistan's offer to have the clashes investigated by the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan. India has outrightly rejected this offer.

Yesterday, Pakistan denied its troops crossed into Jammu and Kashmir and killed two Indian soldiers but said it was ready to investigate India's claim. "Pakistan strongly rejects the Indian allegation of an attack across the Line of Control (LoC) on its military patrol in which two Indian soldiers were claimed to have been killed. These are baseless and unfounded allegations," the Pakistani foreign ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said Pakistan was prepared to launch an investigation through the UNMOGIP on the ceasefire violations. The director-general of military operations of the Pakistani army yesterday spoke to his Indian counterpart over the telephone and rejected New Delhi's claim.

Concerned over the rise in tension between India and Pakistan over the brutal killing of two Indian soldiers, the USA said it has been counselling both governments to de-escalate the situation and has instructed its envoys there to work in this direction.

Only thing you forget here is that Pakistan is not afghanistan where your Raw or army can play easily ... We do also have means to play in India ... so any adventure by your guys will be paid back ...

It's quiet evident that India feels Pak army is weakend due to terrorism and feeling the itch for confrontation. Pakistan gains nothing from attacking India or killing a few of their soldiers. If anything PA will be under more pressure since it'll be battling at two fronts.

But if its war they want its war they'll get. They're underestimating us.

The difference here is you guys continue to play but our side stopped playing since 1990s. So need for this bravado.

And that we regret - need to get rid of all these idiots at center with connections to Pakistan or partition - Nehru, I.K.Gujral, MMS - all these people were/are detrimental to India's interests.

Hi no body cares about Pakistan or its opinions anymore in the world. Money talks, bullshit walks. Right now whatever India sells, they will buy it. Might not openly endorse it, but will be silent and turn a blind eye to the two guys pouting at each other.

But I absolutely agree with you that the current Govt is a panty wearing pansy hopelessly into the aman ki asha thing. Peace by itself is not a bad thing..but there are lines that need to be drawn.

The international community wants a deescalation and the ball is in India's court so we will see. Nobody has openly sided with India and only Indians inside of India have gotten all riled up after the killings. What lines do you suppose and how would you enforce that??

Indians inside India, outside India and Indian Americans are all riled up as mutilation/beheading is not part of honor code and violates geneva conventions as well.

International "community" can want anything. That is their problem. And frankly what else do you expect them to say ? Buck up guys..get on the artillery ? This diplomatic claptrap is nothing and this is not what we used to hear in the good old days in 90s when the pontification was reserved for India alone and in much harsher terms. Our diplomats will talk in Delhi and the guns will be booming in Kashmir atleast for one or two more days.

Still waiting for the forensic report to be released to the public before assuming that is the truth. Only Indians inside India will have to bear the consequences of what comes next so their opinions matter more.

We can agree on our positions - you will wait for forensic report whereas I am good with army spokesman's words and central ministers' as well. Indians inside India will not bear consequences as long as it is not war. Apart from that, whatever consequences they can face, they are facing them already. hint: 11/26

Well Pakistanis say they will believe their army so it will be a stalemate as always unless a third party comes in which India already declined.

And we are 1 billion of it.I think support of 1 billion ppl is more than enough to escalate situation:sniper:

Does any one gives two monkeys as to what you say, dude, the actual world extends far beyond India. Indians tried to sell something to the US President when he was visiting India, but i guess she got it handed to her.
