Pakistan repays $145.7 million to IMF
KARACHI - Pakistan on Monday paid $145.7 million to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as the ninth repayment installment against the loan obtained under the standby arrangement.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan, additional repayment of $400 million to the IMF is due on February 26.

It said Pakistan will have to repay $1.6 billion to the IMF by June 2013.

Pakistan had obtained $7.8 billion from the IMF in 2008.

Since the repayments started earlier this year, rupee has been under consistent pressure losing considerable value against the dollar in the inter-bank and open currency markets.

Instead of repayments this money should be used in the economy for schools, education, infrastructure...... Pakistan seems to be in the cross hairs of the IMF...

Who took the loan? Zardari.
Where'd it go? Switzerland.
So tell me again who repaid it?

Going by the reputation Zardari has as one read here, I wonder if 10 % of the payments made to IMF were pocketed as ' facilitation fees " ?

If not , he must be a sorry man for the opportunity missed.

We slashed the defence budget in economic slowdown in India, can Pakistan do it, never.

The main difference, when you slashed it it was probably used for recovery, but if we slash it - it will go straight to the politicians pockets.
Dont forget, the army invests a lot in the country.

Dont forget, the army invests a lot in the country.

Explain how.
