KARACHI - Chief of Navel Staff Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir along with Rear Admiral Abdullah Sultan Al-Sultan Commander Western Fleet, Royal Saudi Naval Forces Saturday witnessed the ongoing Pak-Saudi joint naval exercise Naseem al Bahr.
A number of Pakistan Navy and Royal Saudi Naval Forces units including Destroyers, Submarines, Missile Boats, Mine Hunters, Naval Aviation, Special Services and Marines are participating in the exercise which comprises sea and land phases.
Chief of the naval staff arrived at Bandal island near Karachi where he was received by Commander Coast Vice Admiral Mahmood Ahmed Khan.
The Naval Chief witnessed live demonstration of beach defence by Marine troops of two navies. Special Services and Marines involving Hovercraft displayed an impressive integrated operation radiating high degree of morale and preparedness.
On this occasion, Commander Pak Marines also gave a detailed briefing to media on the land phase of the exercise. He informed that is the first time in the history of Naseem al Bahr that Marine forces of two navies have participated in the exercise.
Responding to a question regarding Indian Naval Chief’s statement on the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China with reference to the Gwader Port, the Naval Chief said that it is purely a commercial venture and being a sovereign country they have all the right to take measures for the economic progress and development of the people to Pakistan.
He said that if any one has any apprehensions regarding this project, Pakistan is ready to clarify such misperceptions.
Talking to the newsmen, the Naval Chief said that the exercise Naseem al Bahr is a manifestation of close relations between the navies of two brotherly countries.
He said that the exercise would provide impetus to our resolve of maintaining peace, stability and security in the region, as this region is an important lifeline of international trade and economy.
He said that Pakistan Navy has always endeavoured and felt pride in promoting mutual cooperation and harmony through such joint efforts and conduct such exercise with other friendly countries as well.

The Nation

Why we disscus the port matter with India its totally our personaly matter we can do any thing in our land for our economic need did indians talk with us on the issue of dam they made on the rivers which comes in Pakistan and they are also trying to build another Dam on that river

exactly!! i dont know why pakistan cares what india says they should just tell them to mind there own buisness its our port and its our land even if use at as a place to sell weapons to terrorists its our land.I dont know why india has to do this kind of stuff

we've adopted a truly shameful posture as regards india - - -talk to anyone in the military and they'd tell u about the indian involvement in the entire crap we've got on our hands in the from of bombings and the trouble in Balochistan and the NEFP- - - - but the media - - - -our shitty, shitty, shitty media dosent utter a word and neither do our ISPR or FO briefings- - -the indians have got all our private news channels on their payroll but why is the govt so quiet about it

I think when our government say they are willing to talk that means they are ready to assure any country that Pakistan has no evil designs. We want to have friendly relations with all countries and in diplomacy discussions on such things are necessary.

See bhai Hussain, Slimoe and adnan. Relax! we are just going to discuss InshAllah the success this port will bring to Pakistan. Plus I also heard that India will also be using the Gwadar Port to help their own economy. Now when ever someone hears about Pakistan doing something they think of terrorism. That's what Pakistan needs to clarify.:pakistan::pakistan:

let them think what they think why do we care.It is afterall our country india has no right to intervene in our internal matters.

It's not a naval facility that will give the PLAN a "home away from home". That's the purpose of the announcement. Strictly commercial, from what I can tell, and that's good.

Everybody benefits. Nothing wrong with that.

hahahaha ye joke he hosakhta hai
bccz hum sab INDIANS ko jante hai

Gwadar has the potential to help Afghanistan, China, Pakistan and even India (if it chooses to) tremendously...as a consequence it will be very good venture for the global trade and commerce...it shall give Pakistan a platform to exert its influence in a strong yet positive manner and help make it a strategic partner of its neighboring countries...it is a great project and needs to be marketed as such.

The intent has always been to facilitate trade and Kick start economic growth...

The statement is entirely in line with our strategy...we want to progress and develop...

Pakistan's ports near Indian border may be easily cut off connections from the world by an offensive and much stronger navy in the neighborhood. so port gwadar has its value.

now quickly take the ample time and golden opportunities to make it a strategic port for connecting economic world so that pak can gain the support from political world in case of mishap fall upon pak due to external pressures...

China is working on long term strategy for this port. They spent millions of dollar and more is coming from China, will be linked with mainland through roads, rail track and gasline. US also want this port oil tanker loading point, which is going to be tap from Central Asia and line through Afghanistan.
Basically Pakistan is cross road of many oil line. And everyone is fight the war of interest on Pakistani ground.

We should adopt a 'forward policy' on India. In other words oppose it at all opportunities, as India does. Adopt a forward policy on Kashmir to counter India's forward policy. Give information to the world on how India treats its own movements , like the naxalites, how they are about to embark on a policy of Genocide against its own Tribal communities. We should now ignore India and follow our own foreign policy to 'exclude India' as it is trying to do to Pakistan. Inform local and distant powers of India's wrong doing in its neighbourhood.

All these things are part of psy-ops and every country does it at different levels.

But the statement of Navy chief is not bad. As S2 and others said its all doing a PR ship at international level and good for us.
