Pakistan Reaches Out for Russian Arms

Russia is great for building power sector hope that Russia and Pakistan get in power cooperation projects the work russians did in 70's helped pakistan companies like steeles mills etc

we should immediatly go to russians and buy Sam system likes of S - 300 and Buk which will crash any fighter jet in the world

it will never be possible for pakistan to procure high tech weapons from russia.india definitely will put a lot of pressure on russian govt to block any weapons sale to pak.india tried its best in creating every road block during the supply of rd93 engines for the jf-17 .even wajpae requested putin(itni phat gae thee us ki).russia supplied the engines to china for resale probably because if russia would have stopped the supply of the engines too china than china-russian relations would be adversely effected.

If Pakistan seriously wants to procure arms from Russia,
Pakistan needs to have favourable bilateral relations with Russia to such an extent that it is preferably better or at least on par with Russian-Indian relations.

Irrespective of how much you hate Mr. Vajpayee, you can not mix emotions and hatred with international political relationships and relative strength on such things... India has a genuine upper hand over Pakistan as far as Russian relationship matters are concerned... something that you will like to quote for China-Pak relationship. Period! There is no need to qualify who had an a$$ hamorrhage, as that is not what matters... what matters is the end result... and he delivered!

And, other than the historic blocking tactics used by both the nations, India had additional reasons at that time... Why he did that was also because that man did try his best hand at peace (irrespective of opposition from within his party) with Pakistan and was stung on his back so badly that he could never turn back to the same pedestal of trust with Pakistan... but whats the point of all that anymore?

At the end of it... I just hope, someday, both sides can say... let bygones be bygones, let's burry the hatchet and make a new start! Then we won't need to run defence industries of so many counyries... Till then, I don't think India will let Pakistan acquire anything that has the potential to tilt the balance... my 2 humble cents.

THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.WE ALWAYS HAD BAD RELATIONS WITH RUSSIA.WE PLAYED A KEY ROLE IN KICKING RUSSINAS OUT OF AFGHANISTAN.ON THE OTHER HAND INDIA HAS LONG PROVEN RELATIONS WITH RUSSIA.SECONDLY PAK WILL NEVER INDUCT WEAPONS FROM RUSSIA IN LARGE QUANTITY AS INDIA DOES.IF PAK IS GOING FOR 10 PLANES THAN INDIA WILL GO FAR 100.THEY HAVE SOME SPECIAL TYPE OF PHOBIA WHICH MAKES THEM WASTING MONEY ON WEAPONS.

Ok, that was the 1980's.
Times have changed. Russia is not the USSR. India is starting to have favourable relations with the West.
India short-listed their mmrca list. Why couldn't they just wait and purchase more T-50's. Why all of a sudden and narrow down the list to Eurofighters and Rafaels.

The times are changing, just be patient.

BUT THEIR R MANY OTHER DEALS CURRENTLY GOING ON B/W RUSSIA N INDIA.RUSSIAN LOSS TO EUROPEAN COMPANIES DOESN'T MEAN THE END OF RUSSIAN-INDIAN GOOD TIMES.
IF I SEE THIS SITUATION AS A NEUTRAL PERSON THEN I THINK INDIA IS PLAYING VERY INTELLIGENTLY N FOOLISHLY AT THE SAME TIME.
INDIA IS MAINTAINING GOOD RELATIONS WITH EUROPE,USA N RUSSIA N GETTING WEAPONS FROM ALL OF THESE POWER HOUSES.THATS THEIR INTELLIGENCE.
ON THE OTHER HAND THEY ARE SIMPLY WASTING MONEY ON WEAPONS.INDIA,PAKISTAN N CHINA ALL HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS N MEANS TO DELIVER THEM SO IT WILL BE UTTER FOOLISHNESS FOR ANY COUNTRY TO LAUNCH AN ATTACK OVER THE OTHER.EVEN IF THE AGGRESSOR WINS IN A WAR LIKE THIS STILL IT WILL RECEIVE AROUND A DOZEN OF NUCLEAR WARHEADS FROM ITS ENEMY.AMONG ALL THESE ASIAN COUNTRIES NO ONE CAN FULLY CONQUER THE OTHER ONE.

What is funny is that till yesterday Russian defence was crap for Pakistanis now the same thing is gold. Why don' t you buy from China?

WE R JUST CONSIDERING OUR OPTIONS.DO U HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH THAT??
IF YES GO BACK TO INDIA THEN

India need is quite large. We need to buy what suits us and must be one of the best. There are 4 major players in Export in this segment. Russia, U.S, France and Israel. We have multi Billion dollar deal with all of them. But 50% is with Russia.

As far as Russia is concerned, MMRCA we avoided, Because Rafale/typhoon is better than MIG29. Simple to understand. Anyone would have done the same thing.

Currently, We have some 200 Small/Big Deal/JV with Russia. 5th Generation Air Craft PAK FA and FGFA is worth 25+ Billion $, Brahmos-2, Air Craft Carrier -2, 123 More Shukhoi 30MKI, MIG-29 for 3rd AC and many many more. Indeed, we will have some more deals in next few years. India-Russia deal is biggest and worth 100 Billion $ spread for next 15-20 Years. Even if we stop any further deal today, Still we will have existing deal which will last till 2030 and will be more than 100 Billion $ which is very big amount. India-Russia relation is very strong. I don't think it can be stopped by any country not even by U.S.A.
