Featured Pakistan Railways To Procure High-Speed Passenger Coaches and Freight Vans

Any idea what kind of trains Pakistan will procure for its high speed passenger trains?
It’s probably not really high speed trains, just new build carriages of our current designs to run on the current tracks.

At the very least, I hope they get new design for the carriages, and improve the amenities for passengers. Something like air conditioning in all carriages, so the standards are comparable with buses would be a great improvement.

down the line, when/if we get new track I hope they get something like Florida’s Brightline. It’s not the fastest train, but if it’s an enjoyable ride, at an affordable price for the average person, it could be what the country really needs.

The locomotive is basically similar to our Diesel engines with a nice facade, but it’s the carriages and the smooth flownot operations from booking, going through the station, and traveling on the train that make the difference.

So Pakistan is taking $7-billion loan just to use the same old diesel trains?

Talk about mismanagement and lack of vision.

Pakistan seems to be competing with Cuba in becoming a museum nation lol

Pakistan Railways is on course to procure 230 high-speed passenger coaches and 820 freight vans, sources close to the matter have revealed. This revamp is a tentative development to modernize the country’s outdated railway sector, according to reports.
Reportedly the first phase of this action plan will help procure 46 modern passenger coaches. 184 similar coaches will be restructured at the Carriage Factory in Islamabad. Each passenger coach will include 80 compartments for the economy and air-conditioned class. 30 parlor cars and 20 vans will be attached for luggage and the train’s braking mechanism.

200 freight vans are scheduled for import, while 620 vans will be restructured at the Railway’s factory.

The Karachi-Peshawar Main-Line-1 railway project was finalized by representatives from both Pakistan and China on Monday. Railways Minister, Sheikh Rasheed, and Chinese Ambassador, Nong Rong, met in Islamabad to set a recurring timeline. Both sides discussed bilateral relations and railway projects, according to reports.

Previously the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the project of Pakistan Railways for upgrading the existing ML-1 railway track. The establishment of a dry port near Havelian was also set in motion.

According to a press statement issued by the Finance Ministry, the project was approved for US$ 6.8 billion on a cost-sharing basis between Pakistan and China.

Hope they sort out the toilets in these carriages as they are always dirty third world smelly latrines,

The new trains will come later.

I think for now they are just maintaining what they already operate as they have been using the current stock hard, and need to replace them

Lol!!!

There are millions of stray feral cattle in India that cause accidents on rail and road networks. There are stray cattle because anti-cowslaughter laws have resulted in abandoned nonproductive cows and male bulls.
Interestingly the locomotive construction is an "old wine in new bottle story " where a standard WAP class 50's era locomotive has been "dressed up" with fiber glass panels. The damage shows a very thin panel, barely 6 mm thick.
A fabricated steel front panel would have survived a collision with a cow. It is however extremely difficult to design thick steel plates in sections that can be welded into streamlined shapes. Naval architects and tank hull designers are able to this

Main money maker for railways is mostly freight in valaiti countries.

This why all US trains need to be crash worthy against some one the toughest potential dangers and possibly one of the reasons the PR likes to buy locomotives from GE; less worries about maintenance.

Built like a bank vault.

obviously trains can get derailed hitting something big, but farm animals should be no problem. (I’m posting the following instead of animals hit by trains because its terrible footage you shouldn’t see unless you have to)

Who was derailing with mention about wrong facts about IR?

By the way I never claimed that we developed technology but we have been producing them since 60s.

Am I new to railway topics? I look after rail movement of in India's largest rail freight user.
And we almost produce all locomotives.

And at last why are you burning? are you from Pakistan or your ummah is boiling for Pakistan

Sir,
The topic of this thread is different. I had earlier requested you to move on to a different forum. There is another forum specifically for Indians .
It seems you are in pain, The other forum will bring you relief
Thanks.

Wow ! That was some footage!
But returning to the topic.
For any high speed network both train tracks and locomotives have to be designed to be compatible. The tracks come first and have to designed for the speed required with canted super-elevated track on curves with heavy 60 kg per meter continuously welded rails, that are maintained by frequent rail grinding to maintain the rail profile.
The locomotives and carriages likewise must have tilting type bogies allowing the train to tilt on the super-elevated curves without derailing due to wheel unloading.
Special bridges are needed to take the vibrations and tunnels must be vented to take out all air being displaced by the train.
The video below is informative.

These (I'm guessing here) will be similar to Chinese latest generation High speed trains. Though latest Chinese bullet trains are already trialling 350 KMPH, those in the subcontinent may be limited to 200 KMPH or lower for now, due to track maintenance issues.
