Import culture has generally ruined Pakistani Manufacturing sector

The allure from a no Strategic thinker is it will cost x amount of money , should I build it locally or import it , with hassle of 5-7 years commitment that the quality would be there

Pakistani thinkers have taken many shortcuts after shortcuts and that is why our Manufacturing sector is reduced to assembly line work for imported parts.

The mentality can only change if we really set aside 1-2 Billion in financing for Local Manufacturing sector and import good quality machinery and then make it available for Locale Business men and provide some protection against imported machinery

Turkey is an example nation who have emphasized on production locally , and other good example is Iran who were forced to develop their own industry today they make all sort of vehicles and even helicopters and have a Space program

Those Chinese engines were not bad but they were hacked by poor and substandard maintenance.

last time pakistan imported chinese engines and within 6 months 85% were grounded

this time i suggest something different

Pakistan has good amount of Oil & Gas such that they are planning to export it as they exces production and / or low conversion capacity

Import new CNG based railway engines from india

increase trade with India
Better quality / reliability
economical and cheaper than those running on Diesel / Electricity
Diesel / Electricity saved can be used for more productive industrail activity
Pakistan has excess gas production over local demand whcih can be used here

Why dont you guys are not Interested in importing locomotives from India.

Already production of WDM3 for IR is closed, the DLW is now only producing that for export.
I dont think there is much requirement of locomotives above 3000 hp. This will be the best engine. We already exported that to Sri Lanka.

Political appointees and ex military personals running the railways and all other crown corporations in ground with zero knowledge of the business. even till today no one punished, no one fired. Same people still running the railways. How exactly is this going to solve the problem.

PPP or PML_N in power makes no difference, they are all thieves, present government is fixing the core issues how, buying new engines or overhauling the old ones si going to fix the problem how. when the people responsible for the mess are still their.

dont you say anything about ex-military personnel people get very upset here, if ex-military can run SUPARCO, Steel mills, PIA, Universities and colleges then they sure can run Railway too....running to the ground but still running

Raiways is a simple issue , they need to get 100-200 Million dollars and invest it 100% in locomotives no tracks no signals , no fancy stuff , put 100% money into Locomotives , lease - purchase - second hand
