Many good points, but this one is key. What follows from this statement is a stark realization: if Pakistan does not have the trade gravitas based on its location and internal economy, it is on a path to irrelevance.

Pakistan can never be irrelevant politically, militarily or economically just due it's size , geolocation and connectivity.

Why General was sleeping for past 20 years ? These people only wake at TOLD YOU SO moments. Now that our strategic investment by Military establishment is crumbling our Military brass is busy churning lame arse excuses. Otherwise these very same generals used to give hours long lectures on strategic depth. Rather than giving space to these people have a look at their past opinions on the matter. This is what happens when policies are made inside closed doors against the public good.
