Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said on Tuesday that Pakistan was being pressurised to house Afghan refugees for a longer period, Express News reported.

Addressing an anti-terrorism conference in Islamabad, Iqbal said that Pakistan was held hostage by terrorists until a few years ago.

“Terrorists targeted every class,” he said adding that 60,000 Pakistanis had sacrificed their lives in the war against terrorism.

Repatriation of Afghan refugees

“Today it can be proudly stated that Pakistan has come out victorious in this war and every institution of the world considers Pakistan as an emerging power,” he maintained.

Iqbal also shed light on how western agencies sent Osama bin Laden and other warriors to Pakistan but abandoned them once the Afghan war ended.

“Pakistan is still suffering from the repercussions of the Afghan war,” he said.

He even alleged that the problems of Sudan are visible to United Nations but they turn a blind eye towards the atrocities committed in Kashmir.

He further urged the international community to pay attention towards resolving conflicts in order to effectively address the menace of extremism and terrorism.

Voicing concerns over recent wave of terror unleashed by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir, the interior minister said this will not contribute to bringing peace and stability to the region.

“Responsibility rests with the world community to ensure that the blood and sufferings of any citizen regardless of his faith and ethnicity has equal sanctity. Otherwise, the terrorist outfits will exploit the situation to their advantage,” he said.

He reiterated the national resolve to cleanse any sign of terrorism to achieve the objective of peace and development.

Who is pressurizing us to keep these terrorist good-for-nothing back-stabbing Afghan nuts?

exactly ! who can pressurize ?
maybe not any institution country or person...but Circumstances
after all these afghani refugees have over decades mingled with local pop.
marriages kinship relations...
any attempt to deport afghani refugees will inevitably be seen as an anti pashtoon stand

Then break the province... Make apart of it Afghanistan and build a wall. They can kill each other like the rest of that failed state.

Those who wish to be Pakistani can stay on our side...the rest can get lost.

means you are impying that pakistan should cede some qabayli areas to kabul ?
that will NOT solve anything

modern borders could not break pre existing kinship networks.india has same prob on myanmar and nepal border(nagas, terais gorkhas have Roti Beti rishtaas) which makes smuggling rampant

whatever may be the reason. it will be next to impossible to deport afghan refugees

exactly! they keep coming back bcz the pashtun kinship and tribal network is much stronger than

treaty of gandamak
treaty of rawalpindi

Not exactly. When last time government was serious about deporting them after APS. Pakistani Pashtoons (in whole KPK) used to tease Afghan by saying "kala ba zi". It means "ok so when are you going back". This sentence claimed a life or 2 in Peshawar and many injuries too at the hands of Afghan as this sentence was like a bullet to them. So no, Pakistani Pashtoon's don't give a Fcuk.

my question is. Do pak pashtun and afghan pashtun have watertight differences? are the differences more than the common ground?
well as regarding jokes, for that matter even jokes on pathans in pak are also many and are deep rooted

There are more pashtuns in Pakistan so by that logic Pashtun areas of Afghanistan are stan belong to Pakistan :D

Jokes are one thing. You know tye next persion is enjoying too. While on the other hand teasing (In a hard way) is another thing. You know it can cause lifes when you ask an Afghan kala ba zi. So your comparison is totally irrelevant. Its more like what they say to Indians in singapore (i guess), they say "acha". And it is more then enough to cause a big fight.

Now, the first part of your post. Yes, the differences are huge. You only see this kinship minship in border areas sometimes that too, doesn't exist anymore. The kurra. Agency incident is an example to prove my point. As both sides of the border have Pashtoon tribes but they opted to fight for there army.
