ISLAMABAD Nigerian Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu called on Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain separately on Monday.

During his meeting, the defence minister said that Pakistan has been fighting successfully the menace of terrorism. “We can extend training to Nigeria to overcome the problem,” he said. “Our armed forces have sacrificed greatly in this regard and it is because of the high standards of training that we have been able to curtail extremism,” he said.

In a meeting with Tanveer Hussain, areas of defence production were generally explored. Pakistan emphasised the need to enhance defence cooperation between the two countries and offered services of its defence industries to Nigeria. During the meeting, the minister stressed that Pakistan produces the top of the line aircraft JF-17 Thunder which can be equaled to some of the best aircrafts in the world.

“Our trainer jets have paved a market due to their best standards and we hope to sell them further to other countries,” he said. The minister also offered tanks, armored personnel carriers, radio telecommunication sets night vision weapon sights and night vision devices to Nigeria.

Both the meetings proved successful as Nigeria showed keen interest in defence trainings, production and joint collaboration. “Our presence at IDEAS 2014 will further help open avenues for further cooperation,” the Nigerian air chief said.

Could be a starter for the export of JF 17 Thunder

wtf
nigeria? thats the most random thing ive seen

We have great relations with Nigeria, plus they are the big players in that region with an increasingly educated youth, oil reserves.

Our military relations are only strengthened by the fact that we face the same kind of threat as them, our TTP is their Boko haram.
It makes sense to use Pakistan's industry which supplied the army with wartime munitions and equipment and sell those things alongside PA expertise to the Nigerians.

GDP (current US$) | Data | Graph

look at the camparison!!
they're so ahead of us

I have followed Nigerian economy and they saw the increase after change in the base year last year.we are also set to change our base year next year and i am hopeful we will also add atleast 30-35% of GDP to our existing GDP.

With just a change in base year, they had become the largest GDP of Africa

BBC News - How Nigeria will become Africa's biggest economy

60% increase with just a change in base year

To the man in the street, no. It will make no difference at all. But it'll be of some interest to economists. Certain ratios will change, for example the debt to GDP ratio will fall. And on a GDP basis, Nigeria will become the largest economy in Africa, knocking South Africa into second place. Nigeria's rebased GDP is thought to be around $432bn (£260bn) compared with South Africa's GDP of $370.3bn at the end of 2013.

not at all bro...we have good relations with Nigeria and their military

they regularly attend our defense exhibits, there have been Nigerian military folks trained in Pakistan on officers' exchange

Nigeria is a big gun in Africa ... They need weapons against Boko Haram right

Pakistan can offer them variety of weapons

as well as training/operational guidance in COIN ops......boko haram and TTP are one and the same.....should be extinguished

and on a side note - both countries have enormous potential but are bogged down by corrupt bureaucrats

good luck. they need all the help they can get. oil wealth isn't helping them at all and might just be making things worse

easy now. without a 2 seater version in production Nigerians wont be that easy to convince to train on a simulation and then hop into the real aircraft and fly it with as ease as the simulation.
Then tell me how did PAF train on simulators.According to PAF,anyone worthy of flying and with flight experience before can fly JFT with ease

Nigeria is a rising power in Africa. It would be smart to develop good relations with them now.
