Trump respects Pakistan's objection. The only coherent voice involved in Afghan recognised setup.

That's a win win situation for the daal khors.

Yep,,

India is our enemy

Its people, workers, forces are hostile combatants to us

Any presence is something that should be targeted, punished and worse

India has no role in Afghanistan Period. They made Bangladeshi as their Allies and later call them parasites. They give lollypop to afghan by saying we will do air corridor, make chahbahar port. We know what happened to both of their projects. Afghans will know in one way or another.

I think Pakistan should step back and rethink it's approach .....the world has changed ....
We cannot stop a country from doing whats it want..
We need to focus on trade with Afghanistan

I think we should support and guide the Taliban to attack Indian assets in Afghanistan , such as factories,infrastructure projects,their millitant assets such the TTP and those scum called Daesh. Likewise we should allow a flow of investment into afghanistan by;

1)Using front agencies/investors/firms operated by the ISI to buy extremely large shares in afghan companies in every industry possible, especially those in their economy's vital sectors.

2) Launching joint development projects such as road networks connecting our KPK/Balochistan to Kabuk, Kandahar etc and dump cheaply priced products to build an economic base and create jobs on our side of the border.
3)Keeping at least some Afghan Parliamentarians and warlords on our payroll and introducing legislation that favors us.

I don't Pakistani government will ever come out of the terrorise and rule mentality when it comes dealing with neighbors. It's not that they can't, it's that they don't want to. Only those getting their pockets filled would know why. Ahum

lol, i know world revolves round money, its true that india is money location and thus every body is licking their arse but Pakistan is booming economy and current generation will not forget what west were doing to keep indian extremist government happy....

the west tend to forget that India is not a single entity, language or even religion and sooner or later its bond to break into smaller countries

the west needs to understand, stop using the world "pakistani govt" there is no such thing as Pakistani govt, pakistan is a democracy our govt policy reflects people wishes to stabilize our neighborer hood, but west seems to be reaping the benefits of "rebuilding"(USA private companies), "strategic benefit"(india against Pakistan, like this is new?, remember bengal?) and "opium"(like this news, remember Vietnam?)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
the solution to this problem is that we should step away from trying to help solve Afghanistan issue as its currently a melting pot of so many agendas, especially Indian agenda of militancy/ISIS against Pakistan(under west nose) and drug trade (under west nose) and let west settle it out, once they leave than its time for us to intervene and stabilize the country as we did in 1990s........

i know this sounds foolish and as it would be a bigger problem by than but at least we will be on right side of history, because no matter what we do it seems its not working

US want India to expand its military presence , but India seem not interested at all.

That's the thing. Pakistan didn't stabilise the country in the nineties. Meddling with Mujahideen groups was one mistake, and supporting an illiterate, backward and racist regime like the Taliban was another. That's what's triggered the main problem on personal basis between the two nations. The best shot of a friendly relations was through Taliban, which Pakistan didn't make any positive use of.

ISLAMABAD: The dramatic rescue of an American-Canadian couple by Pakistani security forces last week appears to have had a positive effect on the troubled ties between Islamabad and Washington. Pakistan won rare praise from top US leadership including President Donald Trump for its security forces’ swift action to rescue American Caitlin Coleman and her Canadian husband, along with their children.

But far from this public bonhomie, senior officials from Pakistan and the United States had “intense discussions” on thorny issues last week. In fact, the US delegation, comprising officials from the White House, State Department, and the Defense Department, was in Pakistan on the day the news of the couple’s rescue was officially confirmed by the Pakistan Army.

The interagency US delegation was led by Deputy Assistant to the President and National Security Council Senior Director for South Asia Lisa Curtis. Other members of the US delegation included acting US special representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Alice Wells, the acting assistant secretary of defence, and US Ambassador David Hale.

North American couple appear in new Taliban hostage video

A senior Pakistani official familiar with the closed-door meeting at the foreign office told The Express Tribune that the talks were “the most frank and candid” between the two sides in recent years.

The agenda was to share each other’s perspective on a range of issues including the recent strategy announced by President Donald Trump for Afghanistan and South Asia.

The official, who requested not to be named because he was not authorised to speak to the media, said it was not “one-way traffic”. He explained that the US side presented its views and concerns on a range of issues, while Pakistani authorities also did not mince any words on some of the policies being pursued by the Trump administration.

The official disclosed that Pakistan conveyed to the United States that its cooperation on Afghanistan would depend on how the Trump Administration “addresses Pakistan’s genuine concerns on the Indian role in Afghanistan.”

The US side was told in clear terms that Pakistan would not extend any cooperation on the issue of Afghanistan if India was given any political role in the war-torn country.

“We have told them in clear terms that this is our red line,” the official added.

Canadian-American couple’s mysterious rescue raises new questions

In his new strategy, unveiled in August, President Trump sought a greater economic role for India in Afghan affairs while pointing the finger at Pakistan for not doing enough in the fight against terrorism.

Pakistan has expressed reservations over the new roadmap, insisting that India can only be a spoiler in Afghanistan.

The official said Pakistan had no objection with India’s reconstruction efforts. “But where is India carrying out all of its so-called economic and reconstruction activities,” he asked rhetorically, before noting that most of their ventures were close to the Pakistani border.

Islamabad has longstanding concerns that India is using the Afghan soil to foment violence inside Pakistan.

The arrest of Indian Navy Commander and RAW agent Kulbushan Jhadav has often been presented as compelling evidence to substantiate that Indian intelligence agencies were involved in subversive activities in Pakistan.

When asked whether the US side gave any assurance to address Pakistan’s concerns, the official replied, “They were apparently receptive to our concerns.”

QCG meeting

Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua will represent Pakistan at the meeting of Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG) on Afghanistan.

The four-nation talks involving Pakistan, Afghanistan, US and China are taking place in Oman today (Monday) in the latest push to seek an end to the long-running conflict in Afghanistan.

The process was suspended last July after Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansur was killed in a US drone strike in Baluchistan.

The official said the talks agenda was open-ended, but there is not much hope of any breakthrough in Muscat. Unlike the past, Pakistan opted not to issue any statement ahead of the talks.

So Pakistan decides who Afghanistan can have relationships with be it trade strategic or defense.

The last time I checked I thought Pakistan and Afghanistan are two different countries.

Do the Afghans not have right to decide

India is the dominant power in this region the smaller nations need support and guidance .
