Is it time to replace China with Russia?

No doubt China has given us many technologies and weapon systems but they don't to it for the love of Pakistan rather to confront India.

Even if Pakistan does not buy any weapons from China, they will still consider India as their rival & enemy. So they is no risk of China selling any weapons to India.

On the other hand, Russia had been selling weapons to India for many decades now but this relationship is very weak today thanks to Modi who is anti-Russia. Today, Modi's India is primarily buying weapons from the US.

Hence, Pakistan buying weapons from Russia instead of China would break the Russia-India relationship permanently and we could get advanced weapons systems from Russia.

I have long stated the biggest mistake Pakistan's early leaders did was to have a antagonistic relationship with the Soviet Union Sino-Pak relations only became close in 1962 after the result of the Sino Indian war but past is past anyways as for Russia I think it's best time we start anew with Moscow and form cordial ties

Err, Russia weapons are inferior to what India can buy from West and will progressively fall even further behind.

Chinese weapons tech is catching up with West while Russia's is going in the other direction.

You can blame Liaquat Ali Khan, he had a ready invitation to USSR and ditched it and went to US camp and until today we paying the price.

Ironclad allies.

Italy can take China for allies. And Pakistan can have Salvini as PM of Pakistan.

There are many areas like Airdefence, Missiles, Satellites etc. where Russian weapons are superior to the Western tech.

But it is not about West vs. Russia rather it is about replacing China with Russia.

SAM systems are now arguable after Russian performance in Syria.

The other two, China is ahead of Russia, let alone the West.

btw You aware that only China can provide the trio of economic/military and strategic support that Pakistan needs at this time?

Pakistan is not a puppet of another country. It is normal for Pakistan to buy Russian weapons. National interests are above all. This does not affect the relationship between Pakistan and China.

Exactly. Buying weapons from Russia will not impact Pakistan's relationship with China.

Pakistan should engage China on economic projects like CPEC and use that money to buy weapons from Russia.

If Pakistan wants to have the best weapons, they can simultaneously buy weapons from Russia and China. There is no need to replace China with Russia, because the weapons of the two countries have their own strengths

If Pakistan simply needs political support, it is best to seek ways to improve relations with the United States and the EU. Don't waste time with Russia
