Featured Pakistan Navy Type 054AP Frigates - Update, News & Discussion

All of Pakistan's current ships other than Type 22P and the Dutch OPV are decades old from the 1970s. They urgently need to be retired. Hell, US retired their last Perry in 2015.
Perry class is going to stay in PN till 2030.
There are navies around the World who still operate OHPs. It's a potent ship.

Tipu is right. Alamgir Class is mostly deployed on International Task Force operations. So there is no urgent requirement to replace this ship according to threat assessments.

Atleast one should be commissioned now . tired of waiting .First one was Launched in August 2020 .
Sir when can we expect commissioning of first ship ??? June 2021 ??? August 2021 ??? Any guess ???
Normally it took about 12 months for a type 054A from launch to commissioning. During this period, the ship would undergo out-fitting and sea trials. Some ships took more than 12 months, some took less than that.

Pakistan's type 054AP has some different equipment compare with Chinese ship. And as the first ship of the class, it may take more than 12 months period since testing and verification of new equipment take more time than those that have been tested numerous time.

Set you time line to September 2021 for take-over by PN crew, and the on-the-job orientation for PN sailors might take a month or two before the ship sails back to Pakistan under adequately trained hands.
