Salam everyone, my friend is applying on Pakistan Navy as a technician. I just want to know the salary of this job? more information about this will be appreciated Also if there is any better job than this than please tell me that too.. (for metric and fsc)

Technician of what?? Probably a shipmate or maintainance specialist, you gotta go in details man. Torpedo/Naval Aviation technicians earn more than propulsion technicians for example.

It is true that Armed forces and gov't jobs in most countries pay less pay than the commercial concerns. However most people ignore ‘perks’. I can safely state from my personal experience.

In 1975, when I was working for Esso (before it got nationalized and became PSO) on a very good salary. I came across an old class mate from St Mary’s Rawalpindi who had gone to the Engineering College ( Before it became Engineering University, Lahore) and was a senior Mechanical Engineer in the Pakistan Railways based in Multan. While his pay was only about 30% of my salary; he had a large bungalow to live in, a couple of servants free of charge, free first class train travel and free medicine at the Railway Hospital. After deducting my expenses for same things, his standard of living was if anything better than mine.

What I am trying to say that one should not look at the Technicians pay on its own. A Navy Technician would probably have free housing, free medicine and may even have free education for his kids. Most importantly, he would be serving the nation and also would get very good training which would serve him well when he retires.

I sincerely hope your friend is good enough to be selected and I wish him well.

Building on what niaz sahib said, public service jobs are always less paid. You get subsidies, benefits, pensions etc, but don't expect too much. For Military, generally the allowances are a bit more. That is why you don't find a typical Rangers/Army soldier craving for bribes on the road. He will be well fed and kept for. So is his family. They can get proper health care, education etc There are so many examples of kids of non commissioned officers like 'havildar', becoming commissioned officers in the armed forces and rising up the ranks.
