KARACHI: (APP) Pakistan Navy has rescued seven fishermen in a successful search and rescue operation in Khobar Creek near Keti Bandar.

Pak Marines special teams, high speed boats and Aviation unit participated in the rescue operation, said a statement issued by ISPR on Thursday.

According to details, local fishermen informed Pakistan Navy Base at Keti Bandar about sinking of AL KABIR Howra Boat alongwith 12 member crew in the vicinity of Khobar Creek.

Search and Rescue operation was immediately launched and two Pak Marines Teams onboard Speed Boats were dispatched to the scene of incident.

The site was approximately 19.4 Nautical Miles away from Keti Bandar. After strenuous efforts, seven fishermen were rescued from the Khobar Creek.

Whereas the Search and Rescue operation is still in progress to locate the remaining missing fishermen.

Pakistan Navy has also established a Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Centre (JMICC) since 2013, with an aim to harmonize the efforts of all maritime stake-holders through timely gathering & sharing of information to effectively safeguard maritime interests of Pakistan and in particular, timely handling maritime based contingencies through effective info sharing vis a vis coordination.

They should have done it in the beginning, I am sure it takes a fraction of a time compared to actually building them.

Apparently the ship seems to have been in waters for quite long time and sea water cause quite fast oxidation process. Just like in aviation there are permissible cracks limits so are limits of rust in case of ship's Hull. Such ships get thorough anti corrosion treatment when dock back Home. Had the rust been out of limits they wud never have sailed with it.

they do painted it with Anti Corrosion and anti rusting paints but these ships are quiet old which stays in open water for long long time.. Many navies around the world faces same thing
