Alapuzzha (March 30)- A senior officer of the Indian Navy downplayed reports of threat posed by Pakistan's submarine arm.
Speaking on the sidelines of a function hosted by the office of District Collector , Rear Admiral SJ Singh who is Flag Officer Sea Training while responding to a journalist's question, said that only 3 submarines of Pakistan's underwater arm are operational at a given time.
He added that the Indian Navy has adequate resources to deal with them and is continuously enhancing both its submarine and anti-submarine warfare capabilities.

The naval officer along with district officials also inaugurated a new helpline for fishermen in the district. The helpline will be jointly operated by Navy and Coast guards.

Makes sense.
Out of 3 Agosta 90B in PN, at most 2 are available since one is undergoing mid life overhauls.

Similarly the two Agosta 70s are nearly 40 years old so has low availibilty rate i.e. around 50-60%.

So total available subs is 3.

8 more submarines will be handed over to PN by 2022 making a total of 11 submarines even if all Agosta 70 are all phased out.
Actually it will be 2028 and by that Indian Navy sub fleet will also expand a lot.

So says the same group of people who vehemently proclaimed that Pakistan would NEVER EVER become a nuclear weapons state with or without Chinese assistance..........:lol:

3 are ok for us at least they sail and we dont have to worry IN as they are in good habit of blowing their own subs in docks ,sea
