Pakistan military officer sues Adil Raja for defamation in unprecedented UK action

OK here's a wild one hope some goons not trying Kenya style hit because they can't take criticism.

In UK high court YouTuber admits to defaming serving officer

Fugitive Pakistani Youtuber Major (retd) Adil Raja has accepted before London High Court that most of the publications he published on his social media channels were capable of being defamatory of a serving senior Pakistani Military Officer who has taken legal action over defamation at the UK Royal Courts of Justice. This included a tweet alleging that the Military Officer’s colleagues were going to kill him and Raja’s encouragement of terrorism against the serving military officer.

Just over an hour before the hearing was due to start at the London High Court, Adil Raja through his barrister, admitted that what he was publishing and promoting was defamatory at common law and accepted nearly all the meanings advanced by the lawyers acting for the serving Pakistan Military Officer.

Incidentally, Adil Raja's barrister charged him just £5,400 including VAT for the hearing, which was subsequently adjourned. This is in stark contrast to what Adil Raja and his wife, Sabine Kiyani, stated on Twitter when promoting his public fundraising for this case. They alleged that the barrister was charging £20-25,000 for every hearing. These tweets were published just 6 days after the hearing in which the barrister only charged Adil Raja £5,400 for the hearing.

He has collected over £37,000 by fooling Insafis with fake stories but paid only £5400 including VAT to his barrister.

The case was started in London around eleven months ago by the serving Brigadier after Adil Raja published several false and defamatory statements on his Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts making false and baseless accusations against the Brigadier who is posted in Punjab in a sensitive position.

The Military Officer has sued Adil Raja, telling the court that the fugitive retired Major has deliberately lied about him to cause him harm and to make money through fake news publications on social media. It was after the launch of the defamation case by the Pakistan Military Officer that social media giants YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp had banned Adil Raja for spreading fake news and for incitement of violence. The UK anti-terrorism police has put Adil Raja on bail for incitement of terrorism through his social media posts.

The Military Officer has sued Adil Raja over 10 publications in total. Adil Raja’s barrister accepted the serving Pakistan Officer’s claims that most of the publications were capable of being defamatory at common law. Legal sources said Adil Raja made the admissions before the court on advice of his UK lawyer who told him he had no choice but to accept this before the court.

The decorated Pakistan Military Officer, who heads ISI Punjab, took legal action against Adil Raja after the fugitive made the following false allegations against him: that the serving officer was manipulating the political system by taking control of the Lahore High Court; that the officer had several meetings with Asif Ali Zardari during his stay on the subject of election in the ISI and Pakistan army and that such is his conduct that he will be eliminated at the right time by soldiers working covertly leaking information about his movements and actions; that the officer is part of a meticulously contrived process set up by military and intelligence officers to rig elections in Pakistan who has been abusing his position, using unaccounted substantial funds to ensure the victory of PDM and PMLN, lying and manipulating elections in Pakistan, using corrupt and unethical means to rig the elections to prevent PTI from winning the election through an election cell; that the officer registered a fake case against the defendant; that the officer was manipulating the police against him; that the office is involved in political interference; that the officer registered a complaint against Adil Raja in order to defame him and prevent him receiving his identity card and passport because Adil Raja had exposed his plans to rig elections and this was how the officer, a fraudster from Lahore, operates; a fake case against Adil Raja was registered; and the serving officer played a prominent role in regime change and his corrupt practices have made him a billionaire. All of these allegations are vehemently denied by the Officer.

Major (retd) Adil Raja started his campaign against the Officer on 14 June 2022 in Tweets and YouTube broadcasts. Court papers show that the Military Officer filed his case at the court through his UK lawyers on 11 August 2022.

In his defamation claim, the senior Military Officer has denied each and every allegation against him as false and told the court that he had suffered serious harm to his reputation and was likely to suffer further serious harm in the future.

Adil Raja, whose full name is Adil Farooq Raja, reached London from Islamabad in April 2022. He was arrested by UK counter terrorism police in June 2023 from Chesham where he lives. He has been bailed and is now under investigation for inciting terrorism inside Pakistan.

Allow them to sue and let's see what unfolds from it. The legal system in the UK differs significantly from Pakistani law. Although these news might bring joy to PDM supporters and provide them some entertainment, my hunch is that it might have adverse consequences. If the cases proceed to trial, they could gain international attention, potentially shedding light on various matters that both the establishment and PDM would prefer to keep hidden. This situation could create problems for both parties on the international stage.

  • Defamation action taken by a serving Pakistani army officer is the first ever filed at UK High Court.
  • Major (retd) Raja alleged military brigadier was involved in election rigging.
  • Defendant Major (retd) Raja confirms “serving military brigadier has filed a defamation case against me.”
LONDON: A senior Pakistan military officer sued a UK-based YouTuber and retired army officer for defamation and damages at the London High Court — for running a defamatory campaign against him on YouTube and Twitter.

Allegations were levelled about him being involved in election rigging against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), doing horse-trading for General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and holding secret meetings with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari to manipulate Punjab by-elections.

The unprecedented defamation action by any serving Pakistani military officer ever at the UK High Court has been taken by the military officer — currently heading the intelligence command of a spy agency in the province of Punjab — against Major (retd) Raja over nearly a dozen YouTube and Twitter publications which carrying false and ludicrous allegations, according to evidence seen by Geo News.

According to the court papers, Major (retd) Raja started his campaign against the serving military brigade on June 14, 2022, when he in a tweet accused the spy agency’s Sector Commander Punjab “has taken complete occupation of the Lahore High Court" to rig the upcoming elections.

On June 19, 2022, Major (retd) Raja alleged that the "sector commander had several meetings with Zardari during the latter's current stay in Lahore."

The subject stated: "Elections Manipulation” and he went on to post a link to his YouTube video making further allegations.

The court papers also show that the serving military brigadier filed a case in the court through his UK lawyers on August 11, 2022, after the retired major levelled several allegations against the senior military officer in tweets and videos that became viral, gaining thousands of retweets, likes and views.

The defendant Major (retd) Raja confirmed to Geo News: “The serving military brigadier has filed a defamation case against me.”

Lawyers have told the UK High Court that Major (retd) Raja “conducted a determined and prolific social media campaign against the claimant publishing very many Tweets and videos, many of which are seriously defamatory of the claimant, and all of which, by reason of their content, tone and frequency, have caused the claimant serious harm”.

In the vlog, Major (retd) Raja accused the serving military officer of controlling huge funds to ensure Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Democratic Movement's (PDM) victory in Punjab and Pakistan through manipulation and using corrupt means.

He also accused the serving military brigadier of meeting Zardari to ensure a maximum number of seats in Punjab so that Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari could be helped.

In further tweets, Major (retd) Raja accused the military officer of being involved in politics and “horse-trading" for General (retd) Bajwa; registering fake cases against him in Punjab; and being an agent of the regime change plan.

In his defamation claim, the senior military officer has denied each and every allegation against him as false and told the court that he had suffered serious harm to his reputation and was likely to suffer further harm in the future.

The claimant has challenged each and every broadcast by Major (retd) Raja — based on undisclosed sources and ‘silent soldiers’ — while informing the court that the information published was fake, baseless and there was no justification to publish such news which had no basis in truth and facts.

Major (retd) Raja reached London from Islamabad in April last year following reports that he had gone missing from Islamabad.

He left Pakistan after developing differences with his own former organisation and since then he has done several controversial broadcasts making allegations about a “regime change” conspiracy, naming several serving military officers.

Major (retd) Raja told Geo News that his tweets and vlogs were based on the information “provided by highly placed sources within the Pakistani establishment”.

He said it was regrettable that the claimant had filed a case “against his fellow officer and countryman on foreign land”. Major (retd) Raja also claimed that his broadcasts were made in the “public interest” and that he had kept in mind the journalistic code of conduct.

The serving military brigadier is represented by Dawn Solicitors from Slough Berkshire and Major (retd) Raja is represented by solicitor Mahtab Anwar Aziz — the same lawyer who had announced in November last year that Scotland Yard will arrest PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif and Nasir Butt for plotting to assassinate PTI chief Imran Khan and slain journalist Arshad Sharif but the London police have said it has not initiated an investigation based on the complaints filed by Mahtab Aziz and his client Syed Tasnim Haider.

Very soon Faisal Bavda will sue him for abusive tweets .
