Pakistan Military Delegation visits Sri Lanka
SLA Headquarters
An 18-member military delegation of Pakistans National Defence University (NDU), currently in Sri Lanka, as part of their study cum familiarization tour in SAARC countries, called on the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters where the Director General General Staff (DGGS) Major General K.J. Alwis warmly welcomed them prior to the presentations conducted by Director Operations (Army) and Director Rehabilitation at the Army Headquarters Conference Hall Tuesday morning.
The visiting delegation, headed by Brigadier Akhtar Jamil Rao, Directing Staff, National Defence University, Islamabad during discussions with Major General Alwis was keen on learning more about the successful conduct of Humanitarian Operations and post-conflict development roles. However, Head of the delegation Brigadier A.J. Rao separately met the Chief of Staff Major General R.M.D. Rathnayake at his office earlier on the day.
Towards the end of this meeting, the DGGS presented a memento to the head of the delegation to show goodwill and Brigadier Rao reciprocated.

An 18-member delegation from the National Defence University in Pakistan led by Brigadier Akhtar Jammil called on Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake at the Naval Headquarters. The delegation was accompanied by Pakistan Defence Advisor in Sri Lanka Colonel Sheharyar Parvez Butt.
The delegates, comprising senior officers of the Armed Forces and Civil Services of Pakistan and military officers from the friendly countries, are on a study tour in Sri Lanka with a view of gaining an overview of defence, economic, domestic and foreign policies and exploring areas of mutual interest for enhancing mutual cooperation in various spheres. They held cordial discussions with the Commander of the Navy and participated in a presentation on SLN and its operations. Mementos were also exchanged to mark the occasion.
