ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Pakistan and Iran were connected by inseparable bonds of historic, religious and cultural affinities.

Imran Khan said this while talking to Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, who called on him here Friday.

PM Imran Khan received Javad Zarif, who conveyed to him the greetings and best wishes of the people and leadership of Iran on assuming office.

Iranian FM Zarif stated that Iran wished continued progress and prosperity to the people of Pakistan.

He also delivered a message of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, inviting the Prime Minister for the upcoming Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit in Iran, in October 2018.

Welcoming the Foreign Minister, Imran Khan thanked the Iranian Supreme Leader’s support for Kashmiri’s struggle for self-determination as well as for the manner in which Pakistan Independence Day was celebrated in Iran.

Khan thanked the Foreign Minister for the sincere wishes. Recalling his recent telephonic conversation with President Rouhani, Prime Minister Khan said that Pakistan and Iran were connected by inseparable bonds of historic, religious and cultural affinities.

He added that during his tenure, Pakistan would make all efforts to cement these relations in various areas to the benefit of both countries.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also emphasized on restoring complete peace and stability in the region. As land bridges between economically resource-rich regions, together with other regional partners, Pakistan and Iran remained the key to growth and prosperity in the region through enhancing connectivity and promoting people to people linkages.

Referring to cancellation of blasphemous Dutch caricatures competition following government of Pakistan’s strong condemnation and protest recently, the Prime Minister underlined the need for the Muslim countries to confront Islamophobia with one voice. “The love and respect of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), is part of every Muslim’s faith and no one could be allowed to disrespect it.”

Mr. Zarif had arrived in Islamabad yesterday for the visit. Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Iran and is desirous to promote them in all areas.

On Indian forums you'll be flying Indian flags. Pick your side wisely. Stop providing support to Indian RAW to create problems in Pakistan. Close 100's of their consulates along our borders in Baluchistan. Border works both ways and there is no shortage of countries who want to create problems in Iran

The region were 1 people who were separated by time if you don't believe me look at historic maps

All the regions between Turkey/Syria/Iran/Iraq/Pakistan were one group

Specially Iran/Pakistan so many similarities

Pretty much all open borders

We also cherish our friendship and bond with the Saudis and others too. No reducing of this. For all the rubbish and accusations, we here about Pakistan it has always been a stable good neighbour. Smuggling and drugs done by both sides . Afghan source of instability and drugs nothing to do with Pakistan. Tighten your border from Indian terrorists activities against us. I look forward to Iran’s gestures

If PGCC satan regimes and Yankees let we as 2 Islamic countries can have stragic relationship for ever.

These two populated and wise nations have lived beside each other for millenniums.

No they werent.

The identity of the ancient Iranians is specific to a set of closely related tribes and that is equally attested in Iranian and foreign sources. From the Iranian perspective the Iranian or 'Arya' people are identified and defined firstly in the Avesta and then in the Achaemenid imperial inscriptions. From foreign sources you can find mention of the Iranians and who they comprise of in the Assyrian sources first, and then later Greek.

Iranian people and provinces were defined as Persia, Media, Parthia, Aria, Bactria, Sogdiana, Chorasmia and Drangiana.

All other peoples and provinces both west and east were the foreign, non-Iranian tributaries or satrapies.

Syria and Iraq for example was Assyria (considered foreigners). Southern Iraq was Babylonia (foreigners). What is now Turkey was Cappadocian, Lydian, Armenian and Greek (all considered to be foreigners). What is now Pakistan was called Hindush and Sattagydia (foreigners).

One of the great legacies of the Achaemenids is that they didnt try to destroy or assimilate the cultures, religions and identities of foreigners they had conquered. There was clear separation of Iranian land and non-Iranian and acknowledgement that different peoples have different identities and beliefs. So Greeks were still Greek, Lydians still Lydians, Armenian still Armenian, Egyptian still Egyptian, Indians still Indian etc.

Also the Achaemenids generally allowed the conquered natives to rule themselves autonomously. The condition was that they were subordinates to Persia and pay annual tributes and levy auxiliaries when commanded to do so. Other than that, they werent integrated with Iranians. This is one of the reasons why the Achaemenid empire disintegrated very quickly after Persepolis fell. The foreign provinces especially far eastern and Indian ones werent very well connected and were basically just tributaries of Persia that had to pay the annual tax or be attacked.

There is a very good level of scholarship from the top universities in the World that has been publishing on this topic since about mid 2000. So we thankfully now know much more than at any time before about the Achaemenid era. One of my favourite subjects to read.

The preparations for regime change in Iran have been going on for a while.

Lets just keep it to lip service and nothing more.

The people of Iran are our neighbours, but their government has proven through its actions that it cannot be trusted.

I say let's help them like they helped us for the last 10-15 years. Kulbhushan Yadhav and all that.

Because both are neighbor , and we have to stay here permanent. We have old relation with Iran and we want to improve relation in future. We can also play bridge role between Iran and Saudi , for Peace.

You can pick your allies, but you can't pick your neighbours.

Let's not have allies that sour our relationship with our neighbours.
