Winds of change anyone? Seems higher echelions of Pakistan's policy establishment has sensed the mood in the neighbourhood and beyound.
@Kaptaan : I know we disagree on the subject on how the changed mood in the international arena has or will force Pakistan to change course but by judging Pak media and noises coming out of FO one has the impression that there is understanding of the seriousness of the situation at the moment.
If I were to bet I would say that the Tali project is finally coming to an end sooner rather than later
Hate to tell you this, but nothing's changing. Instead this is more of a signal of the opposite, the mood in Pakistan is completely disregard the US and their endless war. The mood inside the army has been since 01 to look after our own interests first, the top echelons you speak of even regret having complied with US requests and pressure in the past. Now the mood is to look at the end game, evaluate where we'll be and to pursue our interests a bit more brazenly. The taliban aren't going anywhere buddy, and take it from me that Afghanistan's only endgame is with them part of some political settlement, in the interim, you can keep them at bay by keeping the country perpetually at war and occupied, or failing both those things you might first see the taliban gain even more strength, but the endgame is the same.
