People need to read the original article again, carefully this time:

HIV/AIDS: Pakistan has one of Asia’s highest HIV prevalence rates
Published: August 27, 2011
KARACHI:

Pakistan is among the 11 countries in the Asia-Pacific which houses a majority of the people infected with HIV, according to a new report from the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).

Neighbouring India and China are also on the list, which includes Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and Vietnam.

Launched at the 2011 International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP), the report, titled HIV in Asia and the Pacific: “Getting to Zero”, found that more people than ever before have access to HIV services across the region. But most countries in the region are a long way from achieving universal access goals for HIV prevention, treatment, care and support.

According to UNAIDS, HIV prevalence in Pakistan nearly doubled from 11% in 2005 to 21% in 2008. The greatest source of a spread in the virus was use of drug injections and the UNAIDS says that an estimated one in five people who inject drugs in Pakistan are HIV-positive.

Across the region, the report states, stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV and populations at higher risk of infection remain rife. About 90% of the countries in the region retain punitive laws and policies that effectively prevent people living with HIV from accessing life-saving HIV services.

Data suggest that a significant proportion of new HIV infections within key populations are among young people under the age of 25. In most settings, HIV prevention programmes are failing to sufficiently reach young people most at risk.
More AIDS resources urgently needed

The AIDS response in Asia and the Pacific is underfunded, the report found. Pakistan, it states, is among the five countries that funds the bulk of its HIV response from domestic sources but many countries in Asia depend heavily on foreign funding, particularly for the provision of antiretroviral therapy.

Increased investment of domestic resources, especially in middle-income countries, is critical for the ongoing regional response to HIV, says UNAIDS.

“Getting to zero new HIV infections in Asia and the Pacific will demand national responses based on science and the best available evidence,” said UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé. “HIV programmes must be sufficiently resourced and solidly focused on key populations. Investments made today will pay off manifold in the future.”

The article only talks about aids through injecting drugs, not the overall state of aids patients in the world. Pakistan's aids problem mainly occurs through syringes, whereas for India, it is through unprotected sex.

Please guide me , where is this written ?

Btw , congrats to Pak for maintaining low hiv prevelance rate compared to India , however this rapid increase needs to be looked at .

Page 34 of the report also says this ,

But the HIV prevalence
is increasing in such low-prevalence countries as Bangladesh, Pakistan (where
drug injecting is the main mode of HIV transmission), and the Philippines

Incidence fell by more
than 25% in India, Nepal, and h ailand between 2001 and 2009.

Again, the point is that it is talking about only drug injection as the mode of transmission, not the overall state of HIV AIDS in the countries.

This is a gift of the westren culture of BF GF and you will understand the meaning of zinnah why is forbidden and got one of the harshest punishment in islamic law which is most of the times rejected by so called moderate muslims. What ever ALLAH says is for the good of people he is not harsh to anyone he is merciful and AIDS is one of the many examples why stoning to death for adultery is perscribed in islamic law

why not in europe? why arabia????any reason?

Because they will suffer more in arabia - you want them to suffer don't you?? In Europe the compassion of the evil Christian Western people may get them medcine and help - in arabia, with real muslims on hand, surely they will get what they deserve - Allah would want that

I don't think we should be talking about issues that don't pertain to the topic. That includes Islam. The thing is, prevalence of aids through drug injection is high, this needs to be eradicated. The problem is that used syringes are used sometimes by some people for drug/blood injection. People need to be properly educated on this issue. Then there is an issue of injecting a sick person's blood (without taking any medical history) into another person for blood donations, & this results in AIDS as well. It is a matter of educating the people properly, & having abundant resources for people working in medical facilities.

LOL you dont get the context of the post.dont send them to europe or arabia.send them 6 feet under the ground

You got that wrong . The report talks about overall aids problem not just the ones where AIDS has been received through syringes . It just mentions in brackets for Pakistan that most people get AIDS through syringes .However there is an overall increase in incidences and prevelance of Aids in Pak , Bangladesh and Phillipines .

Yes, maybe I didn't phrase that post right. There has been an overall increase in incidences of Aids in Pakistan, mainly due to the use of syringes. But no where does it talk about how significantly the overall number of aids patients has increased in Pakistan, because all we know, this could be a very small number. Anyways, I think we need to have more statistical evidence to show how this impacts the overall AIDS prevalence in the country.
