Armstrong Sir, we are not sending our labor force to work there. We may give millions to these groups just to keep silent or ask US to give them some share of power. Even China wants stable Afghanistan. If Afghanistan stabilizes then it can reach to Iran's oil reserves and access to Gulf and Africa via land route and it will take away its dependence on Pakistan to reach those regions via Pakistan.
Chinese are good businessmen. There is a reason why China is still supporting Iran.
You should realize that their is a school of thought that thinks instead of supporting Pakistan too much, they should have a second plan to reach Gulf and Africa via land route. And that is via Afghanistan and Iran. For them, resources and getting rid of their exposed trade routes in IOR which can be closed by US Navy any time is an important priority.
If KKH and Gwadar doesn't work or give enough benefit, they will look for other plan. And they can cooperate with Iran, India, Afghanistan for mutual benefits.
It all depends on how Pakistan understand the gravity of the situation and the need to bring peace in its country rather than focusing on Afghanistan. In pursuit of keeping India away from Afghanistan, you might loose Chinese support, chances are very low but they are there. Best thing Pakistan can do is keep China luring with Gwadar and Baluchistan resources. Because the day it becomes lost cause for China you will loose China just like you lost US.
First of : Sino-Pak relations are not contingent on economics; were it so we wouldn't have supported them in the past & they wouldn't have supported us at times where we didn't really offer anything significant ! To take these relations forward would require greater economic dependency & Gwadar is, with all the problems associated with Pakistan, the best possible route for them !
Secondly - It is fool hardy of you to assume that Pakistan doesn't want a stable & prospering Afghanistan for we've always reiterated our support for that ! In fact we only created the Taliban because a number of Nations including Iran, India & the USSR were using different Warlords in Post-Soviet Afghanistan to fight their own proxy wars !
A stable Afghanistan is the cherished goal of Pakistan because :
(a) it takes away between 4-6 million Afghan refugees living in Pakistan
(b) it helps our economy through the absence of those refugees & through providing us a bigger market to trade with
(c) it provides us access to the Central Asian States
(d) we might even be able to put TAPI in works
(e) they - the Afghans - may actually stop dreaming carving up half of Pakistan to create the Loy Afghanistan & concentrate on their own country for a change
(f) we won't have to kill so many of the TTP, Uzbek & Tajik militants amongst others, coming into Pakistan
So its a win-win situation for us.
Thirdly - We don't give a wooden nickle about whether India builds roads there or strip clubs because the Afghans can't wish away Pakistan because everything has to go through us at least for the next few decades.
What we do care about, however, is Afghan land being used against Pakistan whether in the form of them housing Baluch Militants, the TTP or even letting India, allegedly, using different proxies against Pakistan !
As it so happens with each passing year this message is reinforced in the minds of all who are concerned that Pakistan may not be able to give the US a bloody nose but in case of anyone else we don't foOk around ! If the Afghans don't assuage our concerns we're going to start using our proxies to protect ourselves & if that means that Afghanistan continues to be stuck in time - then so be it !
To the Afghans our message is very simple - Watch Bollywood, eat Bhel Purri etc. - We don't give a sh*t ! Provide sanctuaries to militants & proxies working against us at your own peril & then don't cry foul when we use our own.
Essentially - Don't foOk with us & we won't foOk with you !
P.S Pakistan has plans to bypass Afghanistan too !
