In the year 2014, Pakistan requested to purchase 8 GRC43M Global response cutters. Today I am opening a thread about this cutter,

Here is First Satellite image of possible Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (MSA) cutter, being haul out at Port Angeles Boat Haven by Westport.(Google image Year 2015).(Fig : C)

GRC43M is a decent size cutter, starting from first thing that how officials can multiply the force.

1. In past, Pakistan navy officials removed some guns from ships to made Aft Deck. But this cutter is new, hope officials order the supplier to make custom changes for Aft Deck if its possible, Pakistan z9 or other small helicopters can easily land on this cutter .(Fig A &E )shows the possibility of z9 landing , approximately 60ft space is available.

Anyone have guess is it possible or not?

Total length of Z9 helicopter is approximately 40ft but what is deck requirement any idea?

U.S coast guards have done some custom changes to its cutters which are ideal for Pakistan cutters to solve upcoming issues such as Rain/sea water, heat etc.

1. T top/Hard top (Fig: B) (view and fire)

2. Sun shade/Roof (Fig: D)

See the close up #2 rough sea condition or even rain will flooded 8- meter Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB)(#1).

RIB is the part of deal but sun roof/shade etc. we don’t know, that’s why it might be good idea to build aft deck on these cutters which also solve such issues if it is possible or feasible. Also need deck for receiving supplies because In front there is locker and launcher for Scan Eagle drone.(Fig : E).

Good luck Pakistan Armed Forces. May Allah protect you and give you victory. Amean.

Well , the cutters are good as they are for patrolling the sea routes really no need for mods

Small guns are needed to stop fast boats or commercial ships of moderate size etc

These not ideal for heavy engagement at sea

The decks do offer ability for a chopper to land which may be OK for 1-2 Cutters

But the ship itself would be going for any rescue mission close to the border areas if any ship gets stranded

Really not alot of real estate , considering the tower in the middle of ship will interfere with any helicopter landing as its too close to the helicopter's rotors

If a helicopter is attempting to land and a gust of wind moves the chopper around , it might hit the middle raised tower of the boat

The tower is needed for the comunication devices etc

Pakistan already makes a better Ship that carries weapons / ammunition for engagement operations

PNS DEHSHAT CLASS (Stealth Missile Boat)

If a Helicopter lander was indeed a priority , we could just change the design of Azmat and extend it a bit at back.

Building a "deck" would be interesting idea however not sure how the deck would be used
This view gives a good perspective of real estate involved

We also would lack proper Navy rescue helicopters however might work

However I am perfectly fine with leaving the cutters as is for Rescue missions and drug control operations with light weapons / machine guns

All the ships like cutters are normally in hands of coast guard officers different group vs folks who operate the frigates etc or heavy defence ships

  • well 3 different types of guns are part of the deal,i just highlighted different possibilities, if you know by specification of landing requirement then it make right, thats what i ask in my post any one knows requirement.? so if there is no numbers i just say you thanks for comment.your first pic is us 1333 is 110 ft only and grc43m is 143ft just for you.
  • but i think at least sunroof/shades are required , i just did my work ,brilliant minds navy have it.

Is this the order there or being cancelled?

As PN Azmat without the 8 missiles are better for this role. But why are we getting 8 of these as we need a total of 20 of these. If they are for sindh Coast then it's OK to have 8 GRC43M but I think 2 more can complete the fleet :)

.
PLEASE MERGE WITH EXISTING THREAD ON THESE BOATS

THse should not be compared with AZMAT, which is an attack craft. THese are patrol boats > lower manning, longer endurance, better seakeeping, low operating costs.

The fast response cutter is a Dutch design by Damen Shipyards

Navy wants to keep different variety thats why there is always short numbers in a class.no cancellation in news, even in production.

I have mentioned this before that these boats were acquired in response to real threats of ingress and egress of terrorists/ISIS/Jaish elements. Intelligence agencies had been indicating that possible attempts will be made to land elements from abroad to fuel insurgencies in Baluchistan and FATA and even elements from other outfits.

Furthermore, with recent activity in Baluchistan possibility of insurgents getting arms from the seaborne sources is a real possibility.

These boats will be stationed in Pasni, Jiwani, Gawader, and smaller fishing stations. Helo operations have not been envisaged from these boats.

These are not intended to be used for war fighting capability but to perform patrol and anti smuggling duties and protection of littoral EEZ.

My 2C worth.

So I think - This 8 will be for the Sindh Coast. As China is providing about 6 new FACs to guard the Gwadar coast on its own.

.
China has been given 10,000 acres around Gawader for an LNG Terminal, oil terminal and an EPZ/EEZ to be protected by 1,000 personnel of a Special Unit of PA. Inside the boundary walls Chinese will have their own security!!!!
