What's new

Pakistan from (and in) the eyes of a Saudi Professor!!

In the last five years, Pakistan’s literacy rate has grown by 250 percent, the largest increase in any country to date. According to a poll organized by the Institute of European Business Administration, from 125 countries, Pakistanis have been ranked the “fourth most intelligent people” across the globe.

Where did you get that? If you don't mind my asking could you please direct me to the source material? As per my knowledge and observation no respected and credible institute in the world conduct this kind of ludicrous polls and surveys. "Most Intelligent people", "Most Beautiful people" these all sound like C grade tabloid and wordpress fanboy sites, no mainstream media do that.

This is what the Arab guy claimed, either he is lying or or lost his marbles, there is no proof available on the internet, European Business Administration is a vague term, no such institute exists.
I guess his contacts are available, so email him, sue him, kill him or whatever you want. But don't bother me again (i.e. qoute and reply me)

Hey Guys!!
Some of my foreigner (locals here) friends referred me to this article written by a Saudi Professor Tariq A. Al-Maeena in which he has said certain things about Pakistan that my friends wanted me clarify. So I want to share it with you and want to know your opinion about this article. Please try to keep following questions in your mind while reading the article and commenting about it.
  1. Is he being truthful?
  2. Should brothers treat each other this way?
  3. Does brotherhood and ummah exists at any level after reading this article?
  4. Why a KSAian views us - the Pakistanis as such?
  5. Have our Indian friends right all along that we are treated as slaves by Arabs?

Please read the article before commenting (hint: I have used a little bit of sarcasm). Otherwise you will risk being turning your self into a sour moron!!
@PakSword @Verve @Arsalan @Zarvan @MastanKhan

I will tell you later about my father's 22 years of experience in KSA, and my several years (some as dependent of my father and others as independent).

@war&peace i loved that opening post! You got us all with that! I am sure of it.

Nice read by the way. :)
Thanks for sharing.

Most of the assets that you speak of are not residing in Pakistan, or are they? Any plan on donating rest of your life to a thankless and pay-less job back home? I don't think so. If you want to prosper as an individual, with age you'll mature and spend more time in your field rather than get involved in what-if scenarios back home. If not..... well it's your own choice if you wish to give part or all of your time *free* -- or maybe also *donate* a few organs along the way free of charge as well. :D

You got the wrong person to deal with on HPC. I have done quite a lot in this field with being part of Numba recently in addition to utilising OpenCL, CUDA, OpenMPI on routine basis for my own business but also providing consultancy to many organisation and academic/research institutions like Sandia National Labs and PDC , LUNARC here in Sweden.
By the way, I know that there is a good team at NUST (RCMS), GIKI, COMSATS and there a quite a few professors at PIEAS, LUMS and UET Lahore who have some literacy in this area. KRL and NESCOM also have quite a few great assets. I can offer my service free of cost to train some of them even further if the need arises. Some of my friends have already returned to Pakistan after receiving great training in this field.....so I doubt that you know more about HPC and the human resource available in Pakistan.
@Oscar will tell you that you have a defeatist mentality since you are only seeing the half empty glass.

Well, the free does not mean that I have to pay for all the expenses incurred on my travelling, boarding and lodgings since Pakistan is not that poor and universities are paying handsomely to the faculty members. What I meant by "free" is that I will happily impart the education and hands on training to the fellows of my country of origin that most foreign faculty members may not be so openly available or demand exorbitant amount of fee and provide only fundamentals and old technologies. In HPC you have to be at the forefront to reap the benefits. When I started with CUDA, it was Fermi architecture, then came Kepler, Maxwell and Pascal which will be succeeded by Volta in 2018. Similarly on the software end, you have to utilise the latest techniques and libraries to benefit from the new architecture. I have seen some old prof impart old info and techniques that not efficient or even productive. Studying in-depth how a particular architecture accesses the cache, performs computations, shares data within and between the modes and when and where to use blend of different tools can result huge differences in the speed, efficiency and scalability of the code. So I don't need to stay the whole time in Pakistan rather a few weeks for an intensive HPC school for people who are already with the subject to some extent and I take their skills to the next level.

@Well.wisher opinion was different in one of the thread .
She is not Indian

. .
I am aware of her stance about India and Indians and I tend to agree with her for the most part.

I was talking about her opinion about the treatment of Pakistanis in Saudi.
