The moment there is some ease in the atmosphere of the thread between Indians, Chinese and the Pakistani members, the thread becomes boring and no one posts here.
I think its in human nature to estrange relationships by finding fault with others and figthing with others for petty reason as it ammuses the human mentality to the core

Shah Mehmood Qureshi was the best FM in terms of look and speaking. after Kasuri in Musharraf era. He had looks, personality, Excellent and persuasive accent. God i love the sweetness in his voice. Alas he is no longer with us.

And For the topic. Since Indians here as usual picking dirt on us for not thanking them. They forget it was PAKISTAN in the FIRST PLACE who VOTED for INDIA and INDIA is JUST returning the FAVOR or as you can say GIVING their THANKYOU in terms of VOTE.


But average indian posters here like to spin the story to suit their trolling needs which makes their analytical thinking power zero in the process

I have a different view.. Pakistan despite the current reputation it has wrt terror and Taliban, still making thru is a great achievement for the UN team.. Surely a failure from an overall strategy perspective that has put Pakistan with this perception to begin with, but I personally think, the Pakistani UN team pulled off a great win..

Pakistan may not be very well liked in the world right now, but everyone realizes it is one of the most important countries in the region, & dare I say, an extremely important country in the world as well.

If Pakistan is performing well at the international arena and being the champion of our region, sure India or atleast people like me will support Pakistans bid for the permanent seat. Any way the case of Veto is with that of the furious five, so we can do any thing there to help guys, just being realistic in the case of VETO LOL

The veto rule is pathetic. Either we all have it or no one has it. Its like saying
"all animals are equal but SOME are more equal than others" (George Orwell).

Pakistan wins UN Security Council seat alongside India

Pakistan has won a seat alongside its regional rival India on the UN Security Council.

It was contesting elections for five positions with two-year terms.

Morocco, Guatemala and Togo have also been elected as new temporary members of the council. The Eastern European seat is still being contested.

Pakistan's win means both South Asian nuclear states will serve, but diplomats do not think regional rivalry will play out in a big way there.

The positions of Pakistan and India are similar on many international issues.

The elections replace five of the 10 temporary members of the council every year.

Usually regional groupings endorse the seats in advance, but this year there was an unusually high number of contestants, making the outcome unpredictable.

Guatemala ran unopposed and Morocco won easily, but Togo's victory took three rounds and the fifth seat is still contested.

Pakistan may resist Western attempts to sanction Syria and Iran

Pakistan's ambassador, Abdullah Hussain Haroon, said he expected to work well with his Indian counterpar - he received a congratulatory call from the Indian envoy while talking to journalists.

Diplomats say the greater impact may be on wider council dynamics - they suspect Pakistan may join emerging powers in resisting Western attempts to sanction countries such as Syria and Iran.

If so, it would continue positions held by Brazil, whose term is ending.

Togo's victory ensures a black African presence on the council, something that was in doubt because its run-off was against the Arab state of Mauritania.
