After a senior investigative journalist raised objections to a leading Pakistani Urdu newspaper Jang’s front page advertisement featuring Nargis Fakhri, Twitter went abuzz with mixed emotions.

Protested the ‘obscenity’ of the seemingly innocent ad that simply shows a the 36-year-old model lying down with a phone in her hand, Abbasi took to Twitter to say “My strong protest to top jang group management for this absurd front page ad in today’s jang,” while other users also responded to his outrage, the Express Tribune reported.

One moral police wrote, “@AnsarAAbbasi you are right, her beautiful body curves have nothing to do with 3G phone and its “cheap price.” I fully agree with you dear,” while another said “@AnsarAAbbasi why newspapers are trying to be like playboy or weekend type of magazine ?? These kind o adds look good in magazine not on NP.”However, some users found the protest absurd instead, with one writing “Jitna shor is pe much rha hai agr Taliban, Sipah Mehdi aur Tehrik e nifaz e Fiqah Jafriya pe mchta tou halaat behtr hotay :P

Another Twitterer said, “@AnsarAAbbasi Ansar has no issues with projecting TTP, killer of 60K Pakistanis but a girl with a phone boils his blood.”

@Zibago @MaarKhoor All I want to say, are their not any Pakistani models they could have used, Nargis has made it clear she has no interest in visiting Pakistan, she says India is the closest she feels to her roots, despite having a Pakistani father, I say she is a real oxymoron ,by feeling closer to the country that tried to destroy her father's nation ever since it's inception, she feels she has found her roots, what a joke, besides she recently wished the Indian army a happy independence day and good luck yet she never mentioned Pakistan, I doubt she cares for India either, I suspect she is just a typical using bimbo who is trying her luck. I say we do not need her, nor should we want her.kudos

Poor marketing planning. That marketing manager should be fired. Media industry and advertisement never thinks about what is secular and what is Islamic. Their prime aim is to earn money. But in this case, a strong social media campaign erupted which can harm this advertisement campaign. This is not good for their business.

I will give that manager 2/10 marks for this project. It is a failed marketing campaign.

is it a tabloid? serious newspapers dont do such ads on front page.

if it goes viral they succeeded in the campaign, even if people hate it.

Pakistani major urdu newspapers have their own style of makeup. I don't know what design it called in English. Mobilink is already largest cellular network of Pakistan.

I have seen English newspapers doing similar ads, it just cheapens the quality of newspaper. Front page should be only news no ads, and if you got ads, at least keep it near bottom corner, in a box, in my opinion.

quality is loosing its identity in Pakistani print and electronic media. Only Ufone and some other brands are maintaining the good standards in their advertisements.

She is looking gorgeous. Having said this, the ad is very cheap. No substance except a very pretty, sexy girl. And she cant sell the phone by giving such overt poses.

I find reaction of hypocrites like Ansar Abbasi hilarious. He was the one defending Iftikhar Chaudhry tooth and nail even though there was mountain if evidence of his and his son's corruption.
