Port is meant to transport Oil from the middle east to China.

Saudi Arabia is not going to ship their Oil through Iran.

Not just oil but goods too. CPEC is a link between China , Russia , the Central Asian states and Africa.

Yes. When the India or Taiwan war starts, China cannot get oil through BoB or SCS. Pakistan is the only option.

In war time, China can get oil and energy supplies through Russia and central Asian countries neighbouring China in the West. If US is able to blockade the oil sea lanes in SCS in war time where Chinese navy is strong, China would not expect the sea routes through Gwader port to be operational becos US navy is probably more capable of cutting off the oil supply lanes in Arabian sea and Mideast where US navy is much stronger.

These sound like much more realistic goals than CPEC was.


CPEC was the brainchild of the Pakistani elite, and never made a whole lot of sense, but I think this new initiative is built on pure pragmatism.


Agricultural development is a relatively low risk, low reward development path, but with foreign capital infusion, it should easily be a success.


The IT side is extremely obvious and should get employment to basically a limitless number of Pakistanis as basically the entire English speaking world is in extreme labor deficit and "work from home" is basically the same as outsourcing anyways.
