Pakistan buys Vietnamese tea - Economy - VietNam News

HA NOI — Pakistan is Viet Nam's largest tea importer, according to a representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

About 3,100 tonnes of tea had been exported to Pakistan, accounting for nearly 16 per cent of the country's tea market at an estimated cost of US$4.9 million in the first two months of this year, said head of the ministry's African, Western and Southern Asian Markets Department Ly Quoc Hung at an online meeting on Monday hosted by the ministry and the Pakistan Tea Association.
He added that more than 17,000 tonnes of tea, including green and herbal tea, were last year exported to Pakistan, at a total estimated cost of approximately $32 million.

During the meeting, participants discussed plans on pricing, quality, payment methods and contract fulfilment for tea products in order to maximise the benefits to the two nations' enterprises.
In accordance with the event, the ministry will soon establish close co-operation with agents in Pakistan to solve the problems which are currently preventing Pakistani clients from becoming involved with Vietnamese tea products.

Also at the meeting, participants discussed how to increase the trade volume between Viet Nam and Pakistan which last year recorded an increase of approximately 34 per cent compared to 2010. Pakistan gained $156 million from exports to Viet Nam while Viet Nam earned $168 million from exports to Pakistan.

What is good about Vietnamese tea? Many Pakistanis consume regular Lipton tea for that matter.
