Pakistan arrests 27 Indian fishermen
By AFP Published: January 21, 2013
KARACHI: Pakistan has arrested 27 Indian fishermen for illegally straying into its territorial waters, officials said Monday.
The arrests come after a ceasefire took hold last week in Kashmir, following five deadly cross-border killings that threatened to unravel a fragile peace process.
Pakistan’s Maritime Security Agency (MSA) arrested the Indian fishermen and seized six boats, alleging they were 40 nautical miles inside Pakistani waters.
“MSA officials on Sunday seized some six Indian fishing boats and arrested 27 crew members for poaching inside Pakistani waters and handed them to us today,” police official Mohammad Hashim told AFP.
Pakistan and India frequently arrest each other’s fishermen on charges of violating their respective zones in the Arabian Sea.
Pakistan has over 200 Indian fishermen in its jails and around 125 Pakistani fishermen are in Indian prisons.

lo gee now they will stay in landhi jail 1 year or god know how many manths .

Indians arrest countless Pakistani fishermen & then GOD knows what happens to them.

Unless fishermen from both countries equip their trawler with AIS straying into each others territorial water won't stop.

Well, there is nothing to be get surprised about it. I don't know about Pakistan, but India has plan to equip all fishing trawler with AIS transponder by 2018. Khamoka Jail ki roti khana kise achaa lagta hai? ;)

......entire new coastal security architecture will take several years to fully take shape. The measures include a national AIS chain, AIS transponders on all fishing vessels, VTMS cover for 13 major and 56 non-major ports, 80 new fast-interception craft....
