What's new

Pakistan Armys man portable single round launcher

We have used this system extensively in the past for example during the Kargil war.

this shell/rocket doesn't need a barrel? @PanzerKiel

Yes, but it kicks alot of dust once it is fired. It was used extensively by Taliban against Pakistan Army (i myself was a victim of a salvo of these, on three different occasions).......however, its easy to pinpoint its location and the location can be plastered by massed artillery and mortar fire.

yes, again to reiterate my point, this weapon is ideal to be used against troop / equipment concentrations where accuracy is not needed much. However, for LOC, precision targeting is needed for which ATGMs are being used.

. .
They may not be suitable for LOC. LOC requires pin point targeting capability. If we fire unguided projectiles, they have the potential to miss their target, which can result into civilian casualties and damages. This can have negative impact. Otherwise, we are already having MBRLs etc which are also not fired for the same very reasons.

I intend to do something about it, inshAllah,

Seems more like a guided rocket than an ATGM. Even shape dictates nothing like any AGTM in our inventory. Such high burn and speed only come from artillery rockets.
That's right it doesn't even have that distinct sound of Atgm.

It was a relict of the soviet Afghan war, Pakistan Army tried to use „post soviet and ex afghan war weapons“ to stage on the international political level that Pakistan Army is not fighting in Kargil but resistance fighters from Kashmir which have get the weapons from the afghan black market which was famous and big after during and after the soviet Afghan war. If it’s used still then only very scarcely.

Some years ago I said that this rocket launchers are cheap to maintain produce, and if done in the right way it’s great firepower on the battlefield. A little bit like the Kamikaze drone Philosophie. Weapons have not be always expensive and be imported, sometimes the upper hands get the force which can fire more, faster, longer for low prices. Definitely we don’t have any such system in current inventory the 122mm launcher are to big. This 107 mm installed on Pakistani made jeeps would definitely bring the Big Bang for little resources.
Something like that made in Pakistan:
