Pakistan Army has certain ordinance depots, HQs, other installations etc inside cities with cantts formed with in them. Same for PAF. PA’s NG is also tasked with AD of certain areas.

Now the threat of drones is far greater than it was 20-25 years ago.

That mean the Pakistani military has more preparedness regarding tactical deployment of air defence assets then the actual Russian deployment of PANTSIR on roof top of civilian buildings.

That is generally resorted to once clear line of sight is not available due to adjacent buildings or features. Therefore, the guns or weapons are deployed on roof tops to get clear line of sight and maximum engagement ranges.

So apparently our Mi-17 Helicopters are getting an upgrade, contracted to a Ukrainian Firm. Is this old news or new?

Probably old as there is a Mi17 Depot level maintenance centre in Pakistan where such upgrades can be done. Ukrainian experts can oversee the work.
