Chinese TV unveils homegrown sensor-fuzed weapon

A Chinese TV profile broadcast on 29 May has highlighted Beijing's development of a sensor-fuzed munition (SFM) similar to the US Army's M898 155 mm Sense and Destroy ARMor (SADARM) autonomously guided anti-armour submunition.

China has long been suspected of developing an SFM, based on recent weapon marketing material and scrutiny of US and Russian SFMs at arms shows in the 1990s. The TV profile of Yang Shaoqing, the SFM's chief designer, confirmed its existence and provided rare public exposure for a major Chinese weapon system.

China is the fifth country to develop this class of weapon after Germany, Russia, Sweden and the US.

Yang, who studied engineering at Texas A&M University in the early 1980s, led China's SFM development in the 7th Five Year Plan (1985-1989). The broadcast indicated that the SFM's development was completed by 2005 and it is now in production.

The footage suggests that the SFM uses a microwave radar and/or infrared sensor to find its targets while falling suspended from a small parachute. It then fires an explosively formed projectile, most likely made of copper. The China Central Television (CCTV) broadcast also showed the SFM penetrating the hull and engine compartment of a T-62 light tank.

The SFM has been developed for carriage by 300 mm artillery rockets and by 155 mm artillery shells, but there are yet no indications of aircraft-carried munition dispensers that would be similar to the US Air Force's BLU-108/B.

can someone tell about the rank promotion system of pakistan army i mean i wana know that how officiers get promoted do they have a experience time like they have to stay in major rank for 4 years then they get promoted or some thing else so plz tell?

i am not very enlightened on this but i think from SSG probably not, recon maybe, but not full time intelligence.

Details of this artillery system were released at the same time as were details of the smaller SH2 122-mm truck-mounted howitzer. Pakistan acquired approximately 90 SH-1 truck-mounted howitzers.

a complete SH-1 regiment consists of 24 of these trucks , plus battalion command post, met radar, four battery command post vehicles, four 6x6 recce vehicles, and one artillery locating radar. So that is a lot of equipment. There were rumors about it sometime back

The MP5 submachine gun was developed by Heckler & Koch company in the mid 1960s. In 1966 it was adopted by German police, border guard and special forces. Despite it's age, the MP5 is in service with at least 20 countries, including Germany. It's production still continues. This weapon is license-produced in Greece, Iran, Mexico, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkey and the United Kingdom. It is one of the most famous firearms of it's class. It's only rival in terms of proliferation is the IMI Uzi.

The Heckler & Koch MP5 is a blowback operated, selective fire weapon, chambered for the standard 9 x 19 mm ammunition. It fires from a closed bolt and has a roller-delay mechanism, similar to that of the G3 automatic rifle. It is also referred as a scaled-down version of the G3. The MP5 is a high-quality, reliable and accurate weapon. It's effective range of fire is up to 100 meters.

Trigger units of the HK MP5 are available with various fire mode options, including semi-auto, full-auto and various burst modes. Modern versions have ambidextrous fire mode controls, mounted on either side of the receiver. Cocking handle is mounted at the front of the receiver, on the left side.

First production models of the MP5 were fed from a straight box-shaped magazine. In 1977 a curved magazine was introduced. It has 15- or 30-rounds capacity. This SMG is also compatible with 100-round drum magazines.

Sights of this submachine gun are similar to other Heckler & Koch models and consist of front post and rear diopter. Red-dot, optical or night sights can be mounted on a quick-detachable clamp.

A number of improvements were made to this SMG over time.

HK MP5A1, an original model, which had no buttstock;

HK MP5A2, fitted with a fixed stock. It is the primary version of the MP5 family;

HK MP5A3, fitted with retractable stock;

HK MP5SD a silenced version with integral non-detachable silencer. This version uses standard ammunition, rather than special subsonic rounds;

HK MP5K a compact submachine gun, with no stock and integral vertical grip. It is intended for various security units;

HK UMP, it was developed as a successor to the MP5 in the mid-1990s. It was being targeted primarily at US law enforcement market.

But not Type 90-2 SPAAG/SAM. It is mounted on towed mount.

generally from 2/lt to lt.col it is based on 'exams' and also if officer has attended any courses like staff college etc. performance also plays a part.

from col to lt.gen it is based on 'how well u know your seniors'

It takes 6 months to be promoted from 2nd lieutenant to Lieutenant. Later you have to go through courses like YOBC, MCC, Unit Command Course etc and experience to get promoted. There is no particular time period for a person to be promoted to the next rank.

SSG and ISI are 2 different departments of army. You are selected by the army HQ itself if they see a potential in you to work as a member of ISI.

yes of course if idiotic civilian leaders cant 'judge' the personality of the officer they are choosing.

ZABhutto took ZUHaq over more 'competent' officers.
NS choose PM over more 'competent' officers.

the civilians only look for one trait - is this officer compliant. thats it.
