Pakistan army has no achievement: Pakistani Defence Minister

Actually, he or the post never in the picture if anything happen. All high profiles meet either PM, ISI chief and COAS. Never heard his name at all. Why is he basing the army since all armed forces reporting to him?

Nawaz has personality issue, a blood of Muglia shahzada. His wish of controlling " total power " lead him to disaster . Love to confront Pakistan army and army always take him for granted. In last many years Pakistan Army has trained officials for every civil department of Pakistan. They been influencing Pakistan foreign policy and they have their own political and foreign desk. This all due to incompetent civil govt. Who are always busy in corruption .

Can we list the achievements of any 1 political leader or even any particular leader?

That's the way old video. At that particular anti military sentiments were on sky high...thanks to the hyper media plus Judicial activism along with some other blunders committed by Musharraf himself at that particular time. But the situation is totally different now. Political system is back on track for a while , army has fresh leadership, with fresh approach while dealing with the challenges. Some of these politicians have some personal grudges against Musharraf due to the treatment they received while they were in captivity, but they are back in power now, plus its time to move forward. They should be very with their statements as these politicians and army itself has paid a very heavy price for their blunders in the past.

Pakistan Army will have its achievements if the political leadership feeds it easy targets. So its totally dependent on the leadership of the country. They are the boss they assign the military its tasks. Then the military tries to get them done.
But in Pakistan the army is its own boss unfortunately. They initiate their tasks themselves. Sometimes they bite off more than they can chew like in Kargil. But if Pakistan Army becomes a good boy as it is trying to be these days then it can enjoy modern military zeitgeist. Gone are the days when armies ventured into the unknown. In this modern age everything is calculate beforehand and militaries are assigned only achievable targets.

I actually agree with the defence minister in this that they don't. Yes they have made countless sacrifices but those are not achievements.
Military in Pakistan have always remained above every thing, well its time some introspection is done on their role, they capability and what so far they achieved.

That's so not true. Pakistani army got rid of bangaladedhis and put them on Indias head. It's a huge achievement.

If I were in Pak Army now ... what effect it would have on my morale now that he is defence minister especially after hearing this speech. ... Is it possible in USA or UK to appoint a defence secretary with a past like that ...??? I can speak of UK ( since i have lived there for a substantial part of my life) ...?? Is there no one else more capable in Nawaz Govt of handling this portfolio or Khawaja was a delibrate choice ??

In UK or USA if an COAS makes any kind of political statement, he will be out of the door the very next second
