Pakistan Army continues relief work for affectees of floods: ISPR

Operation "LABAIK"

Pakistan Army is continuously busy in rescue operation at Sajwal, Shahdad Kot, Almo Kot and has employed 5 Helicopters and number of boats to shift the people to safer places. A special rescue operation was conducted to rescue 26 members of a family at Gari Khero in Sindh, who were trapped in flood water and for 5 days.

Army Engineers with the help of civil administration have restored the Jampur-Rojhan Flood Bund and commenced restoration of Railway track from Bhud to Sanawan.

Army has established a Field Hospital at Kot Addu with the help of Australian medical team. 9 Jordanian doctors will also join Army Field Hospital at Muzaffargarh.

So far 2800 tons of ration and 10117 family packs have been distributed in Relief Camps in Southern Punjab. Army has dispatched veterinary teams in Southern Punjab to vaccinate the animals.

19 trucks carrying rations and clothing have been dispatched to Khawaza Khela from Jhelum for flood affected people.

40,000 Kgs relief items have been dispatched to Kohistan and areas astride KKH from Army Camps at Rawalpindi. A medical team comprising civil doctors from Gujrat have joined Army field Hospital at Swat to provide medical relief to the marooned people.

45 tons of relief goods have been dispatched to Battkundi for further distribution at Chilas, Gilgit and Sakardu.

Operation "LABBAIK"

Pakistan Army has established over 100 Relief Camps for flood affected people and distributed 2200 tons of dry ration. Over 1.5 million cooked meal packets have been distributed among the marooned people.

Another 2 C-130 plane carrying ration, dates and medicines were dispatched to Quetta from Gujranwala.

Additional medical teams have been moved from Quetta to Dera Murad Jamali. Army dispatched a consignment of 40,000 liters of portable water, dry ration, medicines through a C-130 from Lahore to Sibbi and another 14 trucks of relief items from to Southern Punjab. Army troops has rescued over 7 lacs stranded people so far to safar places.

Three Water plants have been installed including 25 filtration plants in various flood affected districts of Southern Punjab. 30 water bowzers are also supplying Clean drinking water in Southern Punjab. Over 4500 patients have been treated in Army medical centers in Southern Punjab.

Army Engineers have opened Road Gilgit – Skardu for all types of traffic. 45 tons of relief goods have been handed over to civil administration for distribution in Chilas, Gilgit and Skardu.

The Relief centers established by Frontier Corps at chakarra, Sherigal, Shahihot and Kohat are providing cooked food and relief items to the flood affected people.

Operation "LABBAIK"

Pakistan Army has established Relief Centers in all over the country to collect the relief goods in kind and dispatch to respective areas through dedicated transport, Helicopters and C-130 planes. Army has helped in the distribution of 68,000 tons of Relief goods in flood affected areas across the country.

Today, Army has dispatched 20 trucks of eatables and dry ration to flood affected areas of Sindh from Karachi. 22 tons of ration have been transported to Kalam from Tarbela in last 24 hours.

So far, 934 tons of Relief goods including ration have been distributed at Rahim Yar Khan affected areas and 322 tons rations to affected areas of Balochistan.105 tons of rations have been distributed at Neelam valley,77 tons at Gilgit Baltistan and 16 tons at Chitral.

Rawalpindi - August 29, 2010:

Operation "LABBAIK"

Pakistan Army is continuously busy in Rescue and Relief operations at Daso Mohar, Goth Faqeer and Sajawal. Army Engineers have repaired Munarki Bund and efforts are in hand to protect National Highway at Thatta-Karachi. Numbers of flood affected people have been rescued to safer places through Helicopters and boats in last 24 hours in Sindh.

Army Engineers in collaboration with civil administration have restored the complete road infrastructure for all types of traffic in Sothern Punjab.

So far 100 tons of rations and relief goods have been dispatched to Quetta by 6 sorties of C-130 from Gujranwala. 50 trucks load of rations have been dispatched to Punjab, KPK and Sindh provinces from Gujranwala.

Mean while, another consignment of relief goods of 21 trucks dispatched to flood hit areas of Kot Addu, Layyah, Rajanpur, D.G Khan and Pano Aqil. The major portion of relief items dispatched included medicines, ration and bottled water. Army has so far dispatched more than 3500 tons of relief worth Rs. 22 Crore from various relief camps from Lahore.

Rawalpindi - August 30, 2010:

Pakistan Army has rescued over 2000 flood affected people at Goth Faqeer and Sajwal to safer places. A Saudi team along with Army took part in rescue operation at Faqeer Goth. During last 24 hrs Army provided cooked food to 57,000 people and distributed 53 tons of rations in Sindh, So far. Army has dropped 15,000 kgs ration through helicopter in flood affected areas in last 24 hours in Sindh.

Army Engineers have plugged the breaches the Bund at Goth Faqeer at Tori in Sindh. Army Engineers are trying to make the roads in Thatta, Sajwal, and Badin functional.

Today Army has dispatched another 15 trucks of relief goods to Dera Murad Jamali. Army Engineers have launched a Bridge at Bagh Deri in Malakand and opened it for traffic.

Rawalpindi - August 31, 2010:

"Operation LABBAIK"

Pakistan Army is carrying out rescue operation at Sajawal, Shahdad Kot, Kashmor, Faqeer Goth, Thatta and evacuated 16 critically stranded people at Saidpur village near Daddu. Army has rescued and shifted 300 people to Army Relief Camps in Sindh and also provided 26,000 cooked food packets, distributed 24 tons of dry rations and treated 1400 people during last 24 hours. Pakistan Coast Guard is also augmenting rescue operations with Army and has employed 100 troops and 50 motor boats.

Army Engineers in cooperation with civil administration have plugged four breaches at Kot Addu, Daira Din Panah. Army has dispatched Four C-130 planes carrying 45 tons relief goods to Quetta.

So far, 29, C-130 sorties have transported 115 tons of rations, 48000 liters fuel at Gilgit and 16, C-130 sorties transported 40 tons of rations 46800 fuel to Sakardu.90 tons of relief goods have been handed over to civil administration at Chilas. Army Relief Medical Camps have been established at Surmo near Ganche in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Army Medical Corps is taking active part in Operation LABBAIK and providing life saving services, essential medicines, and precautionary measures on communicable diseases and environmental health to marooned people.

Army Medical Corps has established 7 Field Hospitals, 33 Medical Camps and 19 mobile Teams for flood affected people across the country. Army Medical Corps has also provided medicines worth Rs 70 million from its own resources and treated over 23,000 Patients.
