Pakistan and those shoes

Posted by: Myra MacDonald

It seems that everyone is talking about shoes these days, so much so that I expect the expression “to throw a shoe” will soon acquire a meaning far broader than the original incident.

According to The News in a report from Rawalpindi, “the episode of hurling shoes at U.S. President George W. Bush remained talk of the town, as people belonging to different walks of life expressed their extreme excitement over the incident and praised the ‘brave act’ of the Iraqi journalist. ‘The News’ interviewed a number of people who were all praise for Iraqi journalist Muntazar al-Zaidi…” it said.

The shoe-throwing has also fired the imagination of the Pakistan blogosphere, providing a perhaps welcome respite to discussion about the extent of Pakistan’s involvement in the Mumbai attacks. Changing up Pakistan (CHUP) has matched up a YouTube video of Bush in Baghdad with footage of protesters hitting a former chief minister of Sindh province with a sandal.

Other blogs are running with a spoof statement from the Pentagon saying the Americans have proof that the shoes had links to Pakistan.

For the record, the shoes had no link to Pakistan, nor indeed to any of the other countries that laid claim to them. Reuters reporter Waleed Ibrahim tracked down Zaidi’s brother who confirmed the shoes were made in a Baghdad factory. “One hundred percent they are Iraqi-made shoes,” Udai al-Zaidi said.

looks like the shoe joke was "deleted" without-a-trace!!!

The Shoe has been traced

The pair of shoes which was thrown at Mr. Bush in
Iraq has links to Pakistan, said a statement from Pentagon. They have the following proofs:

i) The journalist had visited Pakistan earlier this year. There he was inspired by the shoe throwing at former CM Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Sher Afghan Niazi.

ii) He received his training of throwing shoes by a Pakistan based Jihadi organization.

iii) The DNA sample of leather has revealed that the animal whose skin was used for manufacturing the shoe had traces of grass which is grown in North of Pakistan and this
skin was collected by a Jihadi organization on Eid-ul-Adha this month.

Hearing this, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani have decided to ban the Jihadi organization and launched a country wide crackdown against all the cobblers in Pakistan.

Thanks for the laugh sir. Great stuff. I think somebody made that joke here or pasted here. :)

:lol::rofl: See ... the impacts and extent of concerns about sovereignity in Pakistan's environment at each level that even a shoe belongs to Pakistan shown its "reaction".............this make a difference among others ....... so please do not try to underestimate by treating like others.......:pakistan:

Once again Pentagone manipulate against nature (To every action there is always opposite reaction), by amalgamating on their findings of true sentiments of "action" and "Reaction" :coffee:

NOTE: We always act friendly and humbly with friends...... but can react severly against those who cross the limits and once proved as rival.
Please try to be positive to gain remain favors (with Flowers) rather then to be hattered (tossing od shoe) by ill intended negetive focuse and blaming on Pakistan and try to digest big realities.:police:

Pakistan being a peace loving sovereign nation do respect an regards to every nation of the globe, we are at the verge of direct threats to maintian global peace @ the heavy cost by secrificing our own homeland security, peace and prosperity during continue "War On Terror", immolated thousands lives of innocents, faces chaos and severe financial crunches for the global peace and security far more then any of the global powers during WOT against such CIA orignated and oriented (Known fact) so -Called Jihadists (though the WOT was imposed with out our consultation). Even then if its still at the verge of serious threats and critics even by those who chanted as our allies /partners or promoters then what doest it mean?

Either the monarch of WOT are mentally collapsed that are not able realize or justify the facts, and lost their recognition for favors of friends, and determinations on the issue. (which obvious may not).

If not above, then only the other possibility visible there that, the intentions may beyond pronouced 'WOT'....:undecided:
When have friend like this ...then there is no need for enemies):coffee:

Joke on Iraqi journalist's 'Pakistan connection'
IANS
Thursday, December 18, 2008 18:39 IST

ISLAMABAD: The Pentagon has traced down links of Pakistan and Jamaat-ud-Daawa with the pair of shoes that was thrown by a journalist at President George Bush in Iraq, says the latest joke being circulated here through e-mail and SMSs.

According to the joke, journalist Muntazir Al-Zaidi had visited Pakistan earlier this year, ans was inspired by the shoes thrown at former chief minister of Sindh Arbab Ghulam Rahim and former parliamentary minister Dr Sher Afghan Niazi, both staunch supporters of former president Pervez Musharraf.

Rahim, who was chief minister of Sindh during the Musharraf regime was "greeted" by shoes when he entered the Sindh Assembly building after the February polls to take oath as a member. Dr Niazi was beaten up by a bunch of lawyers in April this year outside the Lahore High Court.

Zaidi received training in throwing shoes by a Pakistan based Jihadi organisation Lashkar-e-Toiba or Jamaat-ud-Daawa (JuD) and also shares names with JuD spokesman Abdullah Muntazir. "This shows that Muntazir has links with JuD as he shares his name with their spokesman," according to the joke.

The message goes on to read: "The DNA sample of leather has revealed that the animal whose skin was used for manufacturing the shoe had traces of grass which is grown in north Pakistan and this skin was collected by LeT on Eid-ul-Adha." It says that ISI is believed to have links with the exporter who supplied shoes to a "particular" shop in Iraq for onward delivery to Al-Zaidi.

"Hearing this, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani have decided to ban the Jihadi organization and launched a countrywide crackdown against all the cobblers in Pakistan."

The message also quotes President Bush as saying: "It's a unique idea and I wonder from where it came to the mind of the journalist."

On the other hand, the mainstream media in Pakistan, despite the ongoing crisis in relations with India and the country's internal issues, finds time and space to give big coverage to reactions on the shoe throwing incidents.

Newspapers and channels are giving views of different people, who hailed Al-Zaidi on the "courageous step." GEO news channel is repeatedly showing the video clipping of shoe throwing incident with the background song, Mera juta hai Iraqi, iss ki shan hai nirali... on the pattern of the Indian song "Mera juta hai Japani...."
