Expansion of Bilateral Cooperation between Iraq and Pakistan Will Provide Economic Underpinning to the Political Relationship: Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Defence Production
Islamabad: March 17, 2016

Pakistan is keen to further develop the existing cooperation with Iraq in all fields, including the defence sector, for the mutual benefit of the two countries and prosperity and stability in the region. This thought reached during visit of Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister of Defence Production (MoDP) to Iraq, where he metDr. Khalid Yassin al-Obeidi, Iraq’s Defence Minister, says a press release received here today from Baghdad.

“The expansion of bilateral cooperation between Iraq and Pakistan will provide economic underpinning to the political relationship”, sad Rana Tanveer Hussain.

He highlighted that Pakistan is willing to provide all possible assistance for revamping of Iraqi Security Forces. Pakistan has actively participated in most of the international conferences held on reconstruction of Iraq.

He mentioned that Pakistan and Iraq have been cooperating in the field of defence, mainly encompassing training of defence personnel and exchange of defence delegations. He suggested that Iraq may like to benefit from Pakistan Military training potential as well.

He askedDr. Khalid Yassin al-Obeidithat Iraq may indicate their future requirements so that Pakistan can offer a suitable delivery schedule. It was hoped that recent visits of Pakistan and Iraq defence delegations willfurther enhance bilateral defence relations.

During the visit Pakistan offered provision of human resources and training of personnel’s to Iraq.Rana Tanveer Hussain expressed gratitude for hospitality and reassuredDr. Khalid Yassin al-Obeidithat Pakistan supports the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Iraq. A stable and prosperous Iraq could safeguard Iraqi citizen’s interests. Pakistan is keen and sincere in extending all out support to Iraqi Security Forces in their rebuilding pursuits

atleast we should try ....... first start by small arms then to armoured vehicles and then go big

there is no arguing in that .... you can not make soldiers by just putting guns in there hands you have to have the guts ....... and after the iraqi army devastated by USA there is no chance of that ....... given the hate sentiment towards USA the Iraqis will never join US backed army but rather will prefer ISIS ..... States must get out of there and let the Iraq decide for it self

Why would US pressurize the Iraq to suspend the Mushaak deal?? any reason??

Iraqi military forces are fighting ISIS along side Iraqi militias. They retook Ramadi from ISIS recently. However, the war is far from over because existing Iraqi military forces are a mere shadow of their former-self.
