Yes we had to give back Hong Kong back to china simply because we had signed a land lease agreement over a century ago with your emperor after we defeated China in the opium wars. Normally if it was say Russia it would have simply make this land part of its own territory like it did with many lands it seized from China which is still part of Russia to this day.Since back then it was winner takes it all. That was the mistake we made, since if we had followed your Russian ally method/strategy Hong Kong will still have been British territory today. But we signed a lease and when it expired of course we had to return it back. Had we not signed a lease and instead made it part of our territory, then i don't think we would have given it back to China, neither will China have demanded it back anyway.

there's no difference to what it's called. The bottom point is Thatcher wanted to "lease" HK forever. If China was weak like Argentina, HK would still be under British rule.

The relation of China-Russia is absolutely mutual utilization. Each of both has the alert mentality to each other. For Russia, the tighter your padlock is, the better for us. It means cheaper oil and gas, cheaper technologies, closer Russia's dependence on us, and more distraction of your attention on us. For India's fragile economic system which is bigger than Russia though, it is very easy for you to half cut that.

Not entirely true. Hong Kong lsland and Kowloon was not leased but ceded to Britain permanently. Only the new territory was leased. And yes, the Iron Lady initially didn't want to return Hong Kong island and Kowloon. But failed. Deng is smart to lump Hong Kong island and Kowloon with the new territories.
In fact China made it clear that China did not need UK endorsement. China would just take it back. The Iron Lady was so intimided that she fell down the stairs when leaving.

(2). it won't join any camp in any situations: it won't not only because of (1), but also because it can't because it has no guts to say no to its masters - US & UK when it really matters, and it has no real capabilities to back up anything it says, no money, dismal manufacturing, no technologies other than imports (which will be stopped during wars), except the big-mouth of Modi ji which fools others into the myth that India is someone or supa pawa.

This is a typical Indian charlantan trick.

Therefore, it's purely a waste of resources to "throw carrots" towards India.

India will eat the carrots from you, curse you for that, and probably backstab you for more carrots as well whenever it sees you in danger.
