I was an Military lover but ab sirf Air Force se pyaar he baakio ki izzat institution tak ee he sirf.

This is a locally manufactured chinese clone of a jeep... It seems to be a good base for an up armored humvee like concept... That in my opinion would be the logical step towards a locally mass produced LMV.. with the help of a partner from abroad... Maybe paramount as people have suggested.... The only way to replace the current vehicles would be through part sharing with commercial vehicles... This will keep maintenance costs low which is key for acquisition in considerable and impactful numbers.
I'm not in favor for purchasing complete solutions from abroad.
The failure of Muhafiz is partially due to lack of R&D in the project.
You need to keep a steady flow and take small steps towards a solution rather than giving up and abandoning the project altogether. If HIT can't do it use a local Pakistani company and allow them foreign consultancy.. like cavalier group

There's no way that tiny little 4 cyl jeep-copy is enough for the intended role.

A relatively low effort way to design an armored vehicle (other than the truly ghetto, Mad Max-tier vehicles used in Iraq or Libya) is to take a truck chassis (usually Unimog or Ford F-550), engine and transmission and build an armored vehicle around it. That's how the Saffers made their armored vehicles from Buffel to Mamba to Ratel.

The spec sheet of both vehicles was almost the same with the Iveco being longer in length and height by a few millimeters... The engine produces more horsepower for the Bj40. I wasn't able to find torque numbers for the Iveco so left them out (do enlighten me if you find them) Chassis alterations can be performed by HIT or Cavalier. The civilian version, which is getting popular will ensure local manufacturing of some parts. The ground clearance maybe an issue but nothing that can't be solved by our engineers.

Army has access to 70 series and Land Rover Defender as base models. The troop carrying capacity requirement is more than 5 so not just a Humvee type vehicle. MRAPS takes things towards bigger size.

Both 70 and land rovers have to be imported from abroad... Irony that we couldn't get them produced locally... Shorter/longer wheel based version could also be designed... Rest it's upto the planners... From whom I have no expectations.

I just proposed something on this line... A bit more refined like the IVECO LMV... Just something that doesn't make the Jawan's life a joke....

LRs are no longer bought, they were assembled by Sigma motors in Pak years ago and prone to problems and dropped for the same reason.

Mitsus were bought in limited number and have been phased out.

Only vehicles used nowadays are 70 series and Hiluxs (Hilux in Pak come with 3 and 2.8).

And the LAVs in your pics arent really the Armoured Vehicle people here are talkin bout.

Uro VAMTAC was offered by a Local Company and UROVESA but not selected.

Vamtac in 2016 ideas.

Muhafiz wasnt a failure and purchased in numbers by LEAs, Paramil.

Latest vehicle in the same segment is the Interceptor based on 70 series and has also been exported to Bahrain etc
