There is no trade off! Either you send troops to their deaths or give them a fighting chance to fight another day!There is a very obvious trade-off between unarmoured Toyota pickup and fully armored combat vehicle: flexibility for close range threats. In the Toyota pickup, the men can engage a threat even if he is 1 m away. How would an armored vehicle help in a densely populated bazaar in an urban area? Soldiers would have to get off and walk beside the vehicle for cover!
