Pakistan, Afghanistan will fight terrorism 'together': army chief

Right. But we can pressurize NUG to provide us with our demands by keeping the border close--keeping in mind this is the last time we have leverage over them bcz after Chahbahar we may lose this leverag. Simultaneously we need to keep focus on longterm border management-- fencing, trenching or whatever-- for restricting the illegal border crossing. After that we can expect peace in Pakistan.
Border will re-open within a weak or so..This has happened quite a lot nothing new....Just a call from Ghani and gates will be opened..Just to make 1 gate there was a fight so forget about fencing or anything like this..
I am unable to figure out what current leverage has provide us so far vis-a-vis NUG government ?
It's simple no body respect weak either in person or as a nation..Keep the border closed until either they themselves or allow us to operate against TTP hideouts..Can it be possible ? NO..Case closed...
There is no compulsion for NUG to accept our demands since we can't compel them...By the way they have provided there own list of demands to Pakistan..This hide and seek will continue

There will be fencing or a trench along border. We cant secure ourselves with open borders-1100 Km already completed in Baloshistan, last year. I hope they will build one along KPK border too.

We didnt benefit because we have poor policies and diplomacy towards Afghanistan. 50%+ of Afghan trade passes through Transit route, also we offered them free transit route to trade with India but still we are unable to cash this leverage. I think this is due to muslim brotherly ummah chummah and we are struck with provincilism, sectarianism, bradari system too. We are sindhi, Baloch, Pakhtoon, Punjabi, Muslim, Hindu etc etc but very few are Pakistanis. We are not weak but our mindset is that of a slave.
Clearly Afghans wont cooperate. We have to find solution ourselves.

The one in charge of Pakistan are having slave mind set..Spot on..Might be history or genetic issue ...As i said no one respect cowards, There is no leverage if you cant exercise it practically..There will be no peace in paksitan unless and until we will continue with current mindset..To those leading the country doesn't care for avg paksitani..
LOL i laugh sometime when i hear " We can't let afghanistan go on india side"Which side they are on from 1947 ?..We never learned from history...

To hell with those people those vote to the same corrupt goons again and again. :hitwall: People select the scums those dont know ABC of national interests and inreturn the country suffers. Last option to deal with Afghanistan is to divide her in parts: Tajiks, Uzbeks, Pakhtoons and Farsi speaking. Problem solve. :)
They were never on our side. Whenever they are a little stable, they start raising Pashtunistan and other separatist movements. May Allah bless Z.A.Bhutto--his tit for tat policy towards Afghanistan has been saving us since 1972.

This is new normal that we all have to live with..We can't make any incursion in the presence of US/NATO in afghanistan...

Why don't you ask your daddy General Zia-ul-Haq who started all this? Military dictators and ISI that constantly supported good taliban ? Now they are doing the same in Kashmir.

All they know is build DHA, blame RAW

Chabahar is nothing compared to Gwadar.

Spare me the pleasantries. Just go flatten Kunar and Nuristan with depleted uranium shells. Level it into a waste town. Completely kill off all terrorists based there along with their families. Keep going round in circles trying to play a song for the snake to dance to.
Then what difference remains between you and Khawarij.

Pakistan, Afghanistan will fight terrorism 'together': army chief

Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Monday that Pakistan and Afghanistan will fight their "common enemy" of terrorism together, a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Chairing a high-level security meeting at the General Headquarters (GHQ), he said enhanced security measures taken along the Pak-Afghan border are to fight the common enemy, which include "terrorists of all hues and colour".

The army chief issued directions for more effective coordination between Pakistani and Afghan officials to curb cross-border movement of terrorists.

Gen Bajwa "also welcomed proposals from Afghan authorities to take forward the mutual coordination for result oriented efforts against terrorism".

Following a spate of terror attacks in which more than 100 people have been killed, Pakistan had sealed its border with Afghanistan. Authorities later issued shoot-at-sight orders for those found trying to cross over.

The Pakistan Army on Friday night said it targeted militant hideouts close to the Pak-Afghan border. The army reportedly targeted a training camp of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar — the banned terror outfit which claimed responsibility for the Feb 13 suicide bombing in Lahore and the Feb 15 suicide attack on the headquarters of Mohmand Agency's political administration.

Earlier that day, the army had asked Kabul to take action against 76 Pakistani terrorists operating from Afghan territory or hand them over to Pakistan so that they could be tried for their involvement in terror-related activities.

After the Lahore attack, the Foreign Office had summoned the Afghan deputy head of mission and asked Kabul to address Pakistan’s concerns about terrorist sanctuaries there.

Resurgence in terror attacks
Pakistan has been hit by a series of terrorist attacks since Jamaat-ul-Ahrar announced its ‘Operation Ghazi’. The Afghanistan-based JuA had, in the announcement, also hinted at unification of Tehreek-i-Talbian Pakistan (TTP) splinter groups.

It should be recalled that TTP chief Mullah Fazlullah is based in Afghanistan and Pakistani pleadings for his arrest and handover have remained unanswered.

A wave of terrorism swept the country last week, hitting a high on Thursday when a suicide attacker set off explosives at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, leaving at least 76 devotees dead and over 250 injured.

Earlier on the same day, an explosive device had targeted an army convoy in the Awaran area of Balochistan, killing three soldiers.

On Feb 15, a suicide bomber had struck in Mohmand, killing three personnel of the Khasadar force and five civilians. The attack was claimed by the proscribed JuA.

The same day, a suicide bomber rammed his motorcycle into a vehicle carrying judges in Peshawar's Hayatabad Phase 5 area, killing the driver and injuring its four other occupants. The attack was claimed by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

On Feb 13, a suicide bomber had struck a protest on Lahore's Charing Cross interchange, killing 13 and injuring 85. The attack had happened right outside the gates of Punjab's Provincial Assembly. The attack was claimed by JuA.

On the same day, two personnel of Balochistan's bomb disposal squad were killed as they attempted to defuse an explosive device pla

This should be the way to deal with this menace of terrorism. Some powers are trying really hard to offload their burdens on Pakistan's shoulders, and some ignorants here, are chanting for war and bombing on Afg to actually side with those powers to hurt Pakistan, intentionally and/or unintentionally.

If we are not tired of living a miserable life and are not tired of hearing bad news all day and waiting for a new one early next morning then yes let's do it, let's kill them and their families, but be prepared for what will be coming next.

This is not the era of wars or world wars, this is the time of proxy wars, and I think Pakistan knows how to fight back a proxy war, thank God intelligence agencies don't have to listen to extremists before taking any action. We have to push back on war mongers, send back Afghans to their country, help them stabilize their country and empower them to fight the common enemy of Pakistan and Afghanistan rather than enemies of other "states".

We have heard this many times before. Why would it be different this time?

Because we can't do anything different either..

Correct. This is a knee jerk reaction from Pak Army. Nothing going to happen. This is just for public consumption.

ISPR as usual in PR damage control mode. They will go back to directing songs in no time. :partay:

Because we can't do anything different either..

Of course we can. Send our long range artillery, UCAVs, short range missiles, nasr etc to near the border and have a field day.

Because we can't do anything different either..

The only news worthwhile so far is Pak Army is trying to engage with Afghanistan.
