Maybe he always wanted to be a male prostitute, but got this job instead, and now cries every day of his life about not becoming a male prostitute?

We perceive it as a problem - in Pakistan the same perception does not exist - DO you really imagine that Pakistani leadership thinks that any of these things are a problem?? What evidence have you for concluding, yes??

To the Pakistani leadership, what we are calling "terrorism" is just another policy option, a tool -- Just look at the Pakistani responses to acts of terror - they pray instead of going after terrorists, but why should this be the case? because they created these terrorists in the first place, they don't want them destroyed.

You are right.. But I dont think that the current crop of Political leadership has any interest in the tools of terror created by the likes of Zia, Bhutto and Musharraf. They have no option but to inherit them since the tool has become too large and too powerful to manage. The example is the TTP attacks within the country which despite being the offshoot of the traditional Pakistani asset in the region, is now targeting the Pakistani state itself. And thats why I say that some drastic and long term vision based decisions are needed. As a country the policy direction needs to be chosen by Pak. While asymmetric power projection tools like LeT, AT etc do provide an extremely positive Cost Benefit analysis in short term (as it did in Afghanistan against Soviets), the curve of law of diminishing returns there is extremely steep.. And its imperative for Pakistan to break out of that curve which has reached its worst slope in last 5 years and will only get worse..

I dont claim to know the answer, but just as Pakistan opted for short term gains at the cost of long term pains in 1980's, its time to opt for a totally reverse option. Its gonna be painful in the short term, but I personally dont see too many other options for Pakistan that result in a prosperous future..

Karan, the way is known to all - everybody knows this Islamism BS is the root of the rot but they will not take the route that is specified because the islamist will kill them - Pakistan are used to limping about, and that's what will happen, when the rest of the world will have left Pakistan behind, even then Pakistanis will be hanging on to their "ideology" - because if they don't the stake holders will kill them -- So we have our denial and our "ideology" and we will limp along - Sounds gloomy, yes, but we don't know anything else.

argument? everything you said was total nonsense, everything you said was opinion based, none of if based on facts.

To a typical Pakistani nothing that implicates his Govt or even tells the truth is a fact. They are all "opinions" victimizing Pakistan. And you are just one among the million.

do u even know why there is war going in afghanistan, because terrorists are there, and before 9/11 Pakistan didn't even had any problems with terrorism.

The war is going on in Afghanistan because the foot soldiers are there with their resting and resupplying camps on both sides of the border. The real brains are to the East of the Durand Line. Once the brain is neutralized the foot soldiers are just dead mass. Before 9/11 Pakistan had no problems with terror because they were all good jihadis displaying their skills sets in India,Afghanistan and not in Pakistan. It was only after 9/11 when Pakistan, out of utter coercion and threat of being annihilated by the US, went to war agsinst them - albeit in a duplicitous manner - that the good jihadis started showing their true colors. Welcome to post 9/11 Pakistan.Look into the mirror and blame yourself.

so get your facts right and then talk genius.

I ve got my facts right. Its time for Pakistanis like you who live in denial to get their heads out of the sand.

Muse,

This reminds me of the dialog from the movie Scent of a Woman when Al Pacino said

"Now I have come to the cross-roads in my life. I always knew what the right path was. Without exception, I knew, but I never took it. You know why? It was too damn hard."

And thats the case always.. and it takes just one right turn that can change the whole game.. Just One.. Can you imagine how quickly this region can turn into centre of the world, given the economic situation in the west and the Human resource potential in this region. Some times, its frustratingly sad...
